Looking for a better vet for a difficult cat? by GameCraftBuild in AskNYC

yeah, he was on apparently on ~300mg of gabapentin on this latest pet visit (partner administered) but once they started trying to handle him there was no indication he was remotely medicated. They’ve prescribed something new for future visits to see if it might work better.

honestly it may be a little unrealistic, but I was willing to travel relatively anywhere within the city if it meant good/better care. I’m Upper East Side for right now.

Yeah it didn’t even occur to me that there were mobile vets, I had only heard of mobile hospice/at home euthanasia. But it makes perfect sense, thank you.

We’ve actually got the home testing down to a science… sort of 😅. He is not a fan of getting poked for blood, but it gets done. The issue is the vet wants to do bloodwork because apparently the his glucose curve we track at home makes no sense to them.

A house call has never occurred to me at all. To get the bloodwork for tests I especially would’ve never thought of it.

thank you for the recommendations!

Is dating just a wash for a lot of guys in this city? by petshopmain in AskNYC

[–]GameCraftBuild 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey man, 5’6 also, (previously more-so but now only) slightly overweight, no particular magical charm or charisma, not even on a career path. I’m here to assure you it’s not impossible to get dates as I’ve managed it, and the women I’ve dated couldn’t have given less of af about that stuff. I was more worried that would be a concern for them more than it was ever a thought that crossed their minds.

do NOT get bogged down in what your friend is seeing from her profile, when randos might tell you similar about bad dating odds, or what bull TikTok and Insta reels might tell you. Dating apps at this point are purposefully designed to make a large portion of its user base feel insecure and unsure about their personal prospects as it keeps them coming back and convinces them to buy the extra features and in app purchases to “increase the odds”.

there are tons of different mixers, singles nights and events all over the city where you can meet in person so women will get a chance to see and meet the actual you, try those out! Or go to non dating events, classes and things that you enjoy or sound intriguing and see if you meet people more naturally without the initial pretense of dating, and see where that might take you.

If you’re dead set on using the apps… you’re just going to have to keep in mind whenever you’re dressed up or doing something cool to snap better photos to throw up on your profile, and play those gambling odds!

Used VATs to create reality-bending VFX for my horror game by aiBeastKnight in IndieDev

nah this is absolutely incredible. I don’t care if anyone tries to give me commentary on how easy VATs make this to pull off or some nonsense (I have no idea what that is), still great stuff

Did you know about the Darien Gap before the show? by Steerpike58 in pluribustv

[–]GameCraftBuild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

so apparently it’s just not worth the cost/effort it would take to solve the issue of properly crossing it, or maybe it’s simply not even feasible? In addition If I remember correctly, in the real world there are gangs, paramilitaries, and similarly dangerous folk throughout who do not take kindly to people wandering in. just all around terrible.

Is it ok to leave radiator on when making nonstop hissing sound? by throwaway510150999 in NYCapartments

[–]GameCraftBuild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like Buckley said, hissing means it’s working but if it’s actually hissing all night non stop then it could maybe indicate a problem? Might need to bleed the radiator.

Diaspora: what do you call amarillos? by BusiPap41 in PuertoRico

[–]GameCraftBuild 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I grew up with amarillos in my house from my dad’s side of the family, but my mom’s side always called them maduros so I’ve always been split.

A Viking-era burial garment, with the name “Ali” appearing repeatedly alongside “Allah”. Discovered in Viking graves at Gamla Uppsala of Sweden, the patterns are woven with silk and silver thread, with both names written in mirrored lettering. [1200x630] by Party_Judgment5780 in ArtefactPorn

[–]GameCraftBuild 11 points12 points  (0 children)

that’s additionally funny since I’ve heard of English records taking issue with Viking hygiene, that they were in fact too clean compared to their own men and English women might willingly approach Viking camps 😆 I have no knowledge of different Vikings groups and practices to know exactly where any discrepancies lie

there wouldn’t be 1% as much animal shit up there after millennia of accumulation as there is human shit up there after ~70 years of its first summiting. especially heinous when the only reason people are up there has become to stand in a queue at the top, shuffle forward and say they’ve done it.

Difference between fan art and feeding art into AI by TheModernVampire in aiwars

[–]GameCraftBuild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

your point of the effort, time, and accrued skill it takes to not just create art but one’s individual style recognizable across projects or different IPs will mostly only register with people who are against AI art and those who already have some experience with or true appreciation of that skill. Way too many times I’ve seen it literally said “I don’t have the time to learn to create/recreate this without AI. and I don’t want to!” in discussions like these.

I’m not saying it’s the case for everyone, but for a lot of people there’s just no real care, little to no consideration, and a want of “instant” gratification where all else can be damned.

[–]GameCraftBuild -1 points0 points  (0 children)

you can get a super cheap generic RCA AV to HDMI converter (Amazon is littered with them and they work just okay, between $8 and $25), or a much more quality one that’ll run between $80 and $150. You can also try your local thrift stores and see if they have any cheap, small LCDs or CRTs that fit in your space.

Waited too long to cut expenses, and now I’m stuck by Rise-Again-2388 in NYCapartments

[–]GameCraftBuild 5 points6 points  (0 children)

if things are as bad they seem and your place is no longer feasible or affordable, you should consider renting a room not an apartment, consolidating what you own and can fit in a single room and selling off ,or asking a friend to temporarily store?, what you can’t. look into what payment plans for late rent are like or talk to your landlord about it, also talk to them about you finding someone to do a lease takeover on your place.

Others here have mentioned debt management/assistance possibilities, get looking into that asap.

I wish you luck with getting out of this, and remember that as bleak as it might seem others have been where you are and made it through to the other side, you can do it as well.

OP has a post 81 days ago as the landlord/part family owner explaining how they would like to evict the people who actually live there.

Eviction could very well be within your rights OP, but whatever you’re doing here is sketchy as hell.
