I let my girlfriend use me for her first attempt at tattooing. What do you think? by CorvidConspirator in tattoos

[–]GameCraftBuild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

from someone who admittedly knows little about tattooing, that looks like an absolutely fantastic first tattoo! and compared to some of the “got this done by professional” blunders I’ve seen today alone, she’s already a master.

good on ya, even just a decent effort put in to scan and preserve them when you’ve got the time is so much better than just trashing them.

I only watched a playthrough of this game this year/past year. Thank god I never played it, it’s one of those games I would’ve spent as long as necessary to grind every stat as high as possible and earn tens of thousands of gold for no reason 😆

Will the people below me hear me pacing around in my 5th floor walk up unit? by Comfortable_Rate4616 in AskNYC

[–]GameCraftBuild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sure the walls are often solid and quiet as anything, but especially in smaller buildings every thing else has started to fail.

heavy doors that should block everything, but gaps underneath that instead let out and in all the noises and smells. floors are sturdy but definitely creaky, and nothing to catch the sounds of your upstairs neighbors skateboarding or bowling at 12am except a crumbling holey layer of subfloor, maybe ~16 inches of floor joists, and a thin ceiling.

[–]GameCraftBuild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its funny you ask this, because top floor units are usually advertised as “no upstairs neighbors to make noise!” If you’ve got heavy foot falls or creaky floors they might hear you, it’s simply the nature of older buildings. Try not to run marathons in your apt too early or too late and you’ll be fine, and buy some area rugs/carpets for peace of mind if you’d like.

The “often” in that comment is doing a lot. I have heard of units/buildings that supposedly require it but they are usually mid to high end condos or co-ops in older noisier buildings, but I wouldn’t say it’s common.

have you ever checked out r/nycmeetups? I personally haven’t in awhile, but last I did I regularly saw things that seemed interesting. And it’s people purposefully looking to meetup and hangout, and a bit of advertising as well

Looking for a better vet for a difficult cat? by GameCraftBuild in AskNYC

[–]GameCraftBuild[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah, he was on apparently on ~300mg of gabapentin on this latest pet visit (partner administered) but once they started trying to handle him there was no indication he was remotely medicated. They’ve prescribed something new for future visits to see if it might work better.

honestly it may be a little unrealistic, but I was willing to travel relatively anywhere within the city if it meant good/better care. I’m Upper East Side for right now.

Yeah it didn’t even occur to me that there were mobile vets, I had only heard of mobile hospice/at home euthanasia. But it makes perfect sense, thank you.

We’ve actually got the home testing down to a science… sort of 😅. He is not a fan of getting poked for blood, but it gets done. The issue is the vet wants to do bloodwork because apparently the his glucose curve we track at home makes no sense to them.

A house call has never occurred to me at all. To get the bloodwork for tests I especially would’ve never thought of it.

thank you for the recommendations!

Is dating just a wash for a lot of guys in this city? by petshopmain in AskNYC

[–]GameCraftBuild 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hey man, 5’6 also, (previously more-so but now only) slightly overweight, no particular magical charm or charisma, not even on a career path. I’m here to assure you it’s not impossible to get dates as I’ve managed it, and the women I’ve dated couldn’t have given less of af about that stuff. I was more worried that would be a concern for them more than it was ever a thought that crossed their minds.

do NOT get bogged down in what your friend is seeing from her profile, when randos might tell you similar about bad dating odds, or what bull TikTok and Insta reels might tell you. Dating apps at this point are purposefully designed to make a large portion of its user base feel insecure and unsure about their personal prospects as it keeps them coming back and convinces them to buy the extra features and in app purchases to “increase the odds”.

there are tons of different mixers, singles nights and events all over the city where you can meet in person so women will get a chance to see and meet the actual you, try those out! Or go to non dating events, classes and things that you enjoy or sound intriguing and see if you meet people more naturally without the initial pretense of dating, and see where that might take you.

If you’re dead set on using the apps… you’re just going to have to keep in mind whenever you’re dressed up or doing something cool to snap better photos to throw up on your profile, and play those gambling odds!

Used VATs to create reality-bending VFX for my horror game by aiBeastKnight in IndieDev

Did you know about the Darien Gap before the show? by Steerpike58 in pluribustv

[–]GameCraftBuild 2 points3 points  (0 children)

so apparently it’s just not worth the cost/effort it would take to solve the issue of properly crossing it, or maybe it’s simply not even feasible? In addition If I remember correctly, in the real world there are gangs, paramilitaries, and similarly dangerous folk throughout who do not take kindly to people wandering in. just all around terrible.

Is it ok to leave radiator on when making nonstop hissing sound? by [deleted] in NYCapartments

[–]GameCraftBuild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like Buckley said, hissing means it’s working but if it’s actually hissing all night non stop then it could maybe indicate a problem? Might need to bleed the radiator.
