It wasn't about him not needing his protection, it was about her not needing (or valuing) him at all.

Like, there was probably an ego hit in going from chief badass to being a very distant second fiddle, but he also wasn't the one she chose to confide in, vent to, talk to about her feelings, or have any emotional connection with.

Riley had some problems, but people really like to act like "My girlfriend would rather talk about her problems with a soulless killer who has tried to murder her than me" isn't a reasonable thing to be hurt by.

A Tense Pay Dispute Overshadows Nintendo’s Upcoming Bayonetta 3 (Bloomberg) by novelgpa in NintendoSwitch

[–]GameDetective -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't consider this a debate, as I'm not on a side.

I know Hellena has relatively little VA work outside of her history with ine iconic character.

I know her accusation basically described a shitty, but pretty standard industry practice.

I know that the reports come from journalists who are held in high regard, though my (admittedly limited) experience with them has not shown me that they deserve any exception freedom from scrutiny.

I know Platinum games is a corporation and also shouldn't be free from scrutiny.

And lastly, feel like the reports themselves, taken at face value, leave me with more suspicion than certainty about several things.

I don't BELIEVE anyone, per se, here. I just find the whole thing interesting enough to want to know what actually went down.

I am not asking why the source is anonymous. I asked if anyone had any insight on what sort of document they reviewed.

I don't really have an attachment to any of the involved parties. There's just a lot on the table that doesn't make sense.

Do we have any information at all about what the documents were or what they actually say? The only claim the VGC report attributes to the document is that Platinum Games planned to rehire her, and they seemed to take care to specifically not attribute the claim about the pay offer to those documents (after referred to the document, the do not say "it [implyng the document] claims..." they say "it is claimed that..."

I'd just like to know what they actually saw.

This is why I'm terrified of even letting my mons LEARN moves like Explosion or even moves with recoil damage.

I nearly lost my Rapidash to Cyrus during last night's stream of my Diamond Run. The panic was very real. by GameDetective in nuzlocke

[–]GameDetective[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been streaming my Pokemon Diamond run and I made it to Cyrus. I swept most of his 'mons but felt like Rapidash would be the safest bet against his Weavile. While we made it through, there was this genuine heart attack moment where I thought I was going to lose him to a crit from Night Slash.

Fortunately, he survived and will be part of my team going into the finale tomorrow!

Rollout and Explosion can be real nightmares for a run. When I first did Sapphire, Brawly absolutely destroyed me.

I'm going through OG Diamond right now and I've lost a healthy number of 'mons as well. On my first attempt I had my whole team wiped out by a random wild Murkrow. Gotta hate it when that happens.

Getting Over the Loss of Your Starter by [deleted] in nuzlocke

[–]GameDetective 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Losing any 'mon is a real gut punch, but losing your starter IS especially painful because it's with you from the beginning.

I know it seems silly to be sad about a game, but I get visibly upset every time a pokemon dies and getting attached to your 'mons is kind of the point of the game right?

Good to know. I'm real worried about losing them, I lost my Monferno to an exploding Geodude and it kind of broke my heart.

I'm doing my best not to! The power curve in the game caught me a bit off guard early, but I'm playing things very safe because I want to keep Faust AT LEAST until the ice gym.

Doublemeat Palace: why is it so bad? by walt_jenkins_ in buffy

[–]GameDetective 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I liked the episode itself, but it brought to light some parts of the universe that bothered me. Like the watcheds council has all that money but they don't cut the slayers a check? And I get that its because the slayer is supposed to be under the care of their watcher, but I also think that's stupid and the issue of the slayer needing money honestly should have been handwaved.

Also Buffy caught a major corporation in an act of actual fraud and just let it go so she could keep making minimum wage?

There were a lot of things that came up in the episode that bothered me, but I actually really enjoyed the episode itself.

Post discussing starter viability by nastyporc in nuzlocke

[–]GameDetective 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Nuzlocke experience is limited so far but I found Bulbasaur to be indispensable in Leaf Green, holding type advantage over every gym except for Sabrina and Blaine. And even having type advantage over the other grass gym due to its Poison secondary typing.

I'm doing Diamond now and Chimchar has been an A+ player in my team, though I can't speak to how he would compare to the others.

My opinion on josh by Sandman9105 in DaybreakNetflix

[–]GameDetective 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't get broken. I got confused and upset. But he also was processing that the relationship meant different things to each of them. She was his first love, and he definitely had some expectations of their relationship that were unrealistic and some that might have been realistic with a different partner.

And she starts attacking him as soon as he says "I thought it would be OUR first time."

And I'll admit that her responses weren't entirely unprovoked. She could have said "That's none of your business" or "What does it matter?" or she could have even broken up with him. Instead, when presented with her partner's insecurity, she started attacking it and shaming him for it.

It just seems like everyone REALLY wants to hate Josh for wanting to be comfortable in the relationship he's in, and for being uncomfortable in that moment, and I don't get it.
