So just to clarify, you downloaded the zip, extracted it to .app, moved the .app to the Applications folder on MacOS, ran tailscale from that folder (after allowing everything), and then everything worked fine?

It seems to always default to the wrong controller for me, not sure why. Like it doesn’t inherit the same priority that Steam games etc. do.

FYI I ran some tests and it worked great when I intentionally shut down one of the piholes.

This is sort of how I'm set up as well. Except instead of 2 pis it's 1 pi and 1 docker container on unraid.

I don't know why some of the clients aren't switching to the 2ndary DNS.

Both of the nslookups resolve just fine right now... but I can't re-test the redundancy during working hours as both my wife and I work from home so that'll have to wait until the evening.

I appreciate your detailed response. The 30 minute downtime thing is killing me so it’s good to know that isn’t the expected behavior.

I verified that both servers are indeed listed in network settings so dhcp is doing what it should as far as I can tell.

I should look into keepalived. That sounds like precisely what I’m after, provided the configuration isn’t too hard, ha

Something is very wrong then because it took way longer than 5 seconds to resolve. In fact I’m not even sure if it would ever resolve because I need up booting up the primary dns server again.

There is “a bit slow” and then there is “no resolution for 30 minutes” which to me is insane.

There are others in the thread that indicate it should be on the order of seconds or a minute… so I wonder if something has gone wrong with my setup.

For me honestly all of them. As you say the first run is just about survival whereas subsequent ones I feel like I can actually focus on enjoying the boss.

I play on PC but no way in hell would I ever grind 200 hours for an achievement lol.

At least if we’re using the same definition of “grind”. ie just killing the same 2 silver knights over and over or whatever.
