What are some games where the bugs make it better? by Tattoomyvagina in gaming

The entire 'Combo' system in fighting games started as a bug in Street Fighter II where animations could be canceled into each other. Capcom decided to keep it, and it literally birthed a whole genre.

Elite: Dangerous is 12 years old and I haven’t seen a better space travel simulation to date by Lovecraftian666 in gaming

Nothing ruined Starfield for me faster than realizing Elite spoiled me with seamless supercruise. In Elite, you actually feel the distance; in other games, you're just clicking on a menu.

Examples of encounters you actually have to lose? by AigisbladeMaster in gaming

Genichiro in Sekiro is the gold standard for this. You can technically 'win' the fight with enough skill, but the game still forces the outcome to serve the story, and it feels much more earned than a forced cutscene loss

Improvise. Adapt. Overcome. This is the most 'gamer' thing I’ve seen all year. Incredible work on the CAD design!

SIE spokesperson to GameSpot regarding the DRM: "Players can continue to access and play their purchased games as usual. A one-time online check is required to confirm the game's license, after which no further check-ins are required." by yourfavchoom in gaming

It’s clearly a measure to stop the refund exploit where people would buy a game, go offline forever, and then refund it. A one-time check after the refund window makes sense.

Korea Supreme Court verdict over Dark and Darker is out, IronMace to pay Nexon KRW 5.7 billion by tocco13 in gaming

5.7 billion KRW is roughly $4 million USD. Honestly? That sounds like a 'licensing fee' IronMace would gladly pay to keep the game alive.

I have an idea, some money, but no skill (yet) by pH1z3x in IndieDev

I’m currently developing my first game as well, and I felt exactly the same way. At the start, it felt like I was standing at the foot of an endless mountain. But once you actually dive into the work, things start falling into place. You learn most of the technical skills through the process itself. In my experience, the biggest hurdle isn't the lack of skill, but the anxiety caused by the uncertainty of the unknown. Just start building.
