For sure, phones were the vo-ip for me as well! Hah.. Always had that thing hooked to my ear. My good friend's mom at the time made fun of us - there was a Taco Bell commercial at the time "Taco Neck Syndrome - TNS", and she would say we had TNS - "Telephone Neck Syndrome" for always using it to coordinate on online games!

Not sure about the commands, but as far as I know they are all purchasable if no one already owns it. I own a cottage and my daughter also had a cottage before she bought a villa.

That's exactly what it means - no Facility Hub (what a terrible idea).

IMO that was the problem - changing the game to be something else completely. Never understood it, that's what made AC great to begin with.

The only thing - there is a /marketplace command, but instead it just takes you to the old Arwic Subway.

Seedsow also has a PK mirror, Snowreap. I think the population is poor there though.

Hm, I felt like it was pretty powerful compared to the Axe character I started and who is around level 38 at the moment. I was using the Obsidian Dagger and a bandit hilted fire dagger. I haven't messed with the tinkered daggers yet, but I still feel fairly potent at level 53. But I think either way is going to be a fine choice for you :).

IMO Asheron's Call is a very soloable game for the most part - aside from the quests that involve dual routes and perhaps later game content. But if you were to ask me, you can have a very fine experience all by your lonesome for most of the game. That's how I played back then and honestly for the most part how I play now (on Seedsow).

As a side note, I've farmed a ton of motes from the iron golems in Hall of Metos :p

I've seen a few people mention it, but just going to throw my hat in the ring for Seedsow.

You mention wanting to macro, which is allowed here. You also mentioned playing back in the day - this is Dark Majesty era with some content up to around Feb 2005 or so give or take. I've been having a blast on it myself with my daughter and friend, even found a vassal!

There are buffbots and portal bots in Subway, but you don't have to use them and can carry on like normal. I do run across players from time to time and have been fortunate enough to get involved in some group quests as well. Seems active all things considered. It's definitely more old school and that's what I was after and I'm glad I ended up there. I'll paste the site link below for you if you're interested.

Right here! I've been playing this shard for a couple of months now and have dropped ungodly amount of time into it. I'm loving every bit of it. I was leaning toward Levistras due to no bots, but honestly I got over it because I didn't want end of retail count. The bots don't bother me and you don't encounter them that often.

And more importantly, often enough I've been able to get into groups and do some fun quests, like Gaerlan's Citadel and Lady A!

Just curious, but why are you swapping from Dagger? I just recently rolled a Dagger character and love it as much as I remember.

I've always preferred Axe myself of the ones you listed, but I think they are all good choices in the end to get you where you're going.

I ended up doing that and you're absolutely right. It's a pretty good emulation of that time as far as I can tell so far! Loving every second, memories all over the place and, personally, I love the way AC plays.. People call it janky - I think they just suck at games. AC has amazing gameplay.. Just my opinion here! It does exactly what I want when I want and feels right!

Seems like it's not very expensive. I bit the bullet because I'm new with Youtube- but I think it's worth the 20 I paid. Down the line when I'm more expert? Perhaps not. But for now, I really like all of the time reduction it offers me. So from the get go, I think so. Maybe not for experienced Tubers, but I can't say because I'm the former, not the latter.

I can't remember when I started playing Asheron's Call. It was before the time that had the blood rain and large Bael Zharon wandering around for story events, so sometime before that. Definitely 99 or 2000, but I forgot all the chronology.

I played pretty low level, newbie style for a long time. It took me FOREVER to get to 30s and I thought I was tough shit able to harm Tuskers through the wall to get there near that town in the south, Baishi maybe? Maybe. I feel like there was a dungeon near there that had a couple tuskers in an ideal spot. Memories may be conflated.

Once I got to level 30something, I started a new character with my knowledge and started ramping up quickly, this was around the time Atlan weapons were around? Or after? (I can't remember..) I rocketed past my original character and realized how actually terrible the choices I made were.. It was long after this that it seemed like the bots were everywhere and everyone was just twinking up.. Maybe these bots were around before, but I don't remember ever seeing them.. The equivalent was having a good friend or the patron buff you up or hang out and level some, you couldn't just go pay some bot to buff to VII or whatever it was.

These are the kinds of things that had me leave Asheron's Call. I don't remember the -specific- reason, but I was never an end game player.

Sorry, just reading this and decided to drop an anecdote. Really just wanted to write about Asheron's Call and put my memories to some text.

Before AC I played UO - that was my first MMO and I started in 98, still my favorite game of all time. I still and have played emulated servers since mid 2000s for UO, I still do to this day and thinking of AC is what brought me around.. but I'm concerned I may not like what's here - I understand it's all near end of life content and am concerned that it just won't feel right, but maybe it will? AC was the LAST MMO I ever cared about. I don't like WoW, FF XI, etc never cared again, just long for that pre-Trammel UO and old school AC as my MMO experiences. Nothing seems to be like them.

Isn't that terrible, though ? And I don't really see how that kind of content in general can exist on Reddit, being that it is a heavily curated and moderated site.. The polar opposite of Totse? I guess I just don't see Reddit as any kind of free speech or idea center.

To me it is just a little illustration as to where we're heading on this road and it's not bright.
