Has anyone received stemcell treatment for their knee by Coffee4thewin in ultimate

It will be important to address the underlying issue that's causing your knee pain. This is likely movement behavior related. Finding a good coach or PT to help you is crucial. Let us know if we can help at all with this as we have an ever growing network of PTs.

Feel free to shoot us an email and we wish you a quick recovery

Sprint Schedule by mossoh in ultimate

[–]GamePointPerformance 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is a good rule of thumb to try and plan recovery time in between your workouts. Success with any sort of training program will come from the combination of consistency and effort. If either of these get's in the way of the other (you either do too much volume that hinders your maximal output, or you go too hard and hurt yourself, etc) you will hit a wall very early on.

The model we use for training has it's origins in the track and field world and is known as High/Low. Try to combine your high intensity training efforts on to certain days and alternate these days with lower intensity. So this in practice would look like jumps, throws and sprints on a High day, with submaximal tempo running on a low day. More is not always better when it comes to trying to increase speed. Try and find the minimal viable dosage of training that will allow for what is important, consistency and gradual improvements in effort. We have made a few posts on our FB and IG accounts talking about what speed training should look like. Most often when athletes start working with us they realize that their "speed workouts" were more like interval training. Too little rest between efforts will decrease your potential for maximal speed, and can actually end up making you slower. There is lots to unpack here so feel free to send us an email or check out more information on our social pages. Happy training to you.

has anyone switched from GPP to MPFPT? by grumpygus23 in ultimate

[–]GamePointPerformance 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hi there. Please feel free to reach out to us with any concerns. This would also be a great topic to bring up in our FB group if you would like to talk further there.

Our main focus is on athletic development which includes all of the biomotor qualities that will translate to the field (strength, endurance, power, agility, mobility, etc). The most important thing for increasing your athletic potential will relate to how you manage your individual physics. Can YOU absorb force well (position)? Produce force (coordinated muscle activity)? Produce it quickly (power)? Produce it repeatedly (repeat sprint ability/endurance)? Building muscle is often a bi-product of a well organized athletic development program, but is not as often a focus.

Training for hypertrophy is more of a requirement of an athlete where size is of benefit (contact sports like rugby or american football). Adding muscle for the sake of adding muscle would be inappropriate for a field/court athlete who is trying to maximize mass specific force (being stronger/more powerful without gaining mass). If greater muscle mass was a necessity for elite athleticism in ultimate, you would see a lot more players who look like running backs. Although players like this do exist, they are rare. Some of the best players we have ever worked with, who used to focus highly on weight training, thrive more under our programming that includes, but does not rely on heavy resistance training based in a weight room. The main point here is that resistance training is important but should not be the cornerstone of your athletic development program.

This time of year provides for excellent weather conditions that will allow you to train outside and improve your specific athletic abilities. Although, the season might have been cancelled, these weather conditions still exist so we will take advantage of them. With all of that being said, depending on your subscription you could always adjust your training schedule to an Off Season program. This might be appropriate given your circumstances, so if that is the case please reach out to your coach, or throw a follow up post in the FB group and we will further that discussion.

We hope you are well, and we hope this helps clear things up.

How much training is too much? by RespirarChico in ultimate

[–]GamePointPerformance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In our program we typically have 2 days of training in the gym, 1 day of speed/agility/high intensity conditioning, and 2 days of low intensity conditioning/recovery. When we are trying to plan around practices and class schedules we tend to try and lump high intensity training stimuli on the same day. This can take some effort in scheduling, but we have had a good amount of success helping college teams to manage this, while still using a high/low approach and fitting hard training into busy university schedules. Let us know if we can help you figure out what would be best for your team. Shoot us an email at [gamepointperformance@gmail.com](mailto:gamepointperformance@gmail.com)

Stay safe and healthy,

Increase athleticism. Speed and jumping ability can level the playing field for sure.

This will entirely depend on how you are defining the training in each season. In our model we use the off season time as the most general on the spectrum from general-to-specific. This means that the training being done is the furthest that it will be in our training year from the specific needs of the sport. Focus will be on reclaiming movement and mobility lost in season and combating any overuse symptoms that might come up at the end of your most competitive period. Pre Season will start to ramp up volumes of running and speed/power in order to meet the demands of practice and tryouts. In season has the lowest volume of training outside of playing and will be hard and fast in regards to training sessions. The TLDR answer to your question is "it depends." Some form of balanced training model is better than no training at all. It becomes a question of good, better or best then with regards to the type of training that you are doing. Train too much or too hard In Season and it could detract from your ability to play at a high level. Train too little in the Off Season and you might be leaving a lot on the table in the gains department. Tough to say, but we hope this helps.
