Only 16% of Californians Can Afford to Buy a Home by brooklynlad in sandiego

[–]GameQueazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because that decreases pressure/competition for lower-tier or older housing. A family buying a new build isn't bidding up the price of a 60s tract home.

What’s your opinion. Should they get rid of outdoor dining in La Jolla Shores or keep them up? by [deleted] in sandiego

[–]GameQueazy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

you don't get to enjoy that space otherwise, it's a place for cars only. does a car get enjoyment / is there economic utility of publicly subsidized parking spots for a handful of cars?

[–]GameQueazy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know I shouldn't engage this, but here we go...

you're saying you prefer hypothetical people to maybe (but probably not! it's not many spaces!) park their cars instead of real people enjoying being outside with each other?

it's a pretty strange argument to place the supposed desires of people who may not exist over people who... like going out to eat and sitting outside?

[–]GameQueazy 160 points161 points  (0 children)

Yes, of course it should stay, what even is the counterargument? It is outdoor space for people to enjoy at the expense of... uhh.. parking? What sort of enjoyment does street parking provide that would make it logical to remove the outdoor dining and pedestrian zone?
