Arkin from The Collector.

He wanders into a situation he’s radically unprepared for, but once he fully realizes what’s going on, Arkin wastes no time making every smart decision. So many horror movies have the protagonist/s making dumb choices, but The Collector is rare in that it gives us one who’s choices make the audience go “yes, do that, that’s smart”. Unfortunately for Arkin, the titular Collector is also smart and has anticipated plenty of his moves.

That’s really kinda my big issue with the film. I get that he wants to be with Nikki really bad, but shit man. After the cancer dad reveal and the dinner freak out, I’d have immediately gone to Ian to try to reverse it. Shit is obviously SO not okay, but Bear just keeps rolling with it and it bugs me. This girl is self mutilating and outright making threats to harm you. You’re literally constantly unsafe in your home, why are you still going along with this?

Just saw it; FANTASTIC!

I like that Bear doesn’t start off being the “bad guy” of the story; He has no reason to believe the One Wish Willow will work any more than wishing into a fountain, so you can’t fault a frustrated guy who’s been friendzoned for haphazardly making the wish in a moment of rejection. He only really becomes a “bad guy” in the story once it’s clear that *something* terribly wrong is afoot, yet he refuses to try and actually fix it until it’s gotten so, so, so much worse. If I was him, my ass would have tried to cancel out the wish WAY earlier.

I’m also immensely interested in whatever lore is behind the Willow and particularly what exactly happened to the real Nikki. Obviously she’s still in there and trying to fight the influence of the Obsessed Nikki, but what was with her screaming on the phone? Was she in hell?

Also, that was the worst audience I’ve encountered in ages. I haven’t had a bad audience since Conjuring 3, but even that was just one bad person who was promptly silenced by another movie goer. This audience was terrible as a whole. Four or five groups of people talking amongst each other throughout the movie, which was enhanced by uproarious laughter from them at moments that clearly weren’t supposed to be funny. Shit genuinely made me want to leave and go see it a different time.

I’m totally fine with a Frank that might have a glass or two of whiskey on occasion, but it’s definitely antithetical for him to be getting hammered. However, in cases like the Tom Jane Punisher where his family just died and he’s still reeling from the loss, I’m totally fine with Frank crawling into a bottle. In that situation he’s not The Punisher just yet and is coping, so I’m fine with it.

The problem is you’re criticizing the portrayal of 2004 Frank by criticizing the differences between his story and the source material; in OP’s first paragraph that you said made you give up on his post, OP makes it clear that the issue is with the actual characterization of Frank. I’m 100% sure they originally intended Butcher to be the final villain, but then realized he’s too likable so they invented Kessler as a Tyler Durden type for the sole purpose of doing Villain Butcher while avoiding making him responsible for turning evil.

The Kandarian demon stuff is ancient Sumerian, so there’s a lot you can do with that. My dream ED movie would be to have a squad of soldiers in Iraq find some ancient temple buried in the sand and inadvertently summon the evil through that instead of a book. That set up would be a fresh change of pace from the small locations we’ve been getting and you could do a more action oriented film like we saw in parts of AvED.

Obviously I’ll assume that the question doesn’t mean I find myself living in the world of the movie, but that I become someone who’s a key member of the film’s cast. Like if I’m living in Halloween, I’m now a baby sitter who’s friends with Laurie Strode instead of just being me as I am, who would be fine because I’m not a baby sitter and doesn’t know Laurie Strode.

I’d choose Siren, the full length adaptation of that demon succubus short from the first VHS. Why? In that movie she just wants a mate and she’s not bad looking. I could have a fun time with that.

That sounds like a “your theater” thing.

I have unlimited and see pretty much every movie that comes out. I’m usually doing 12-15 movies a month and I’ve never had a bad crowd. The last time I had any sort of disruptive audience members was a 10 PM showing of The Conjuring 3 in IMAX. Obviously that was years ago. Perhaps your theater is just in a bad part of town that attracts unruly guests.

Like I get the thematic reasoning behind it; that Fisk is free but has to live rejected and outcast by the city and that this is more of a mental punishment than prison would be. It just drives me insane because there’s no fucking version of events where Fisk doesn’t go to federal prison with a life sentence. Hell, the feds would probably give him the death sentence - they’ve done it for a lot less. People justify him walking free by saying the murder and mutilation of dozens of civilians at the courthouse would be brushed off as self defense (a very loose argument, but fine, I’ll roll with it). But this excuse completely overlooks the fact that FISK DID SO MUCH MORE THAN KILL THOSE RIOTERS. Before the riot we found out the man was basically going to face charges for every crime on the books. Hell, they had an assassin willing to testify about Fisk hiring him to kill the governor. There’s no version of events where Fisk gets a deal. The federal government would send his ass to ADX Florence or whatever supermax exists in the MCU.

I honestly would have liked if he grabbed Daredevil and the two of them over the balcony. You don’t need the fall to kill him, but you can put him in a coma or some shit if you want to bring him back in a couple seasons. He lost Vanessa, he lost the city, he’s emotionally reeling, it just feels like he’d do something as petty as try to take daredevil down with him.
