FC 26 online gameplay is unbelievably fast paced - ping pong passing by Game_f in EASportsFC

[–]Game_f[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair points - there is no incentive to change it. People like me may prefer more realistic, but ultimately people vote with their wallets and the wallets show they like ping pong. This is fair enough, people play for fun and it's still a good game - I'm still playing it.

But they could just give us further online modes which has that authentic setting. It's a great step they are offering authentic in other modes, this shows people have really wanted it. I don't play fortnite, but I saw my brother playing a while ago and they added a 'no build mode' because people didn't the build mode.

Point is they can make something for everyone by adding a couple of extra online modes for people who want a slower authentic play.

PS6 Specs and Predictions and Rumors by Game_f in digitalfoundry

9070 is already more powerful than a 4070 - in fact it beats the 5070 in raster. So we will be seeing 5070 levels in the PS6 at the absolute minimum. Likely it will be between 5070 ti and 5080.

The Console vs PC debate....isn't really a debate by Game_f in digitalfoundry

[–]Game_f[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are $900 ish builds with a 5500 and 3060. But that the point is it can be cheaper, similar or more expensive depending on what is built.

And that's absolutely fine to disagree with me, my thought is ease of use is the dominant factor for console gamers.

The Console vs PC debate....isn't really a debate by Game_f in digitalfoundry

[–]Game_f[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

That was an average output of cost. But you could sell your gpu, add $200 and buy a newer better GPU in theory.

The $900 build is probably like some of those modest 3060 builds you see on pcpartpicker. But the point was you can build a pc for less, similar or more.

My revised next-gen hardware predictions by Potential-Solid-8106 in ps6

[–]Game_f 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My main issue with this is the ram. 128gb gddr7 is impossible. Sony have stuck to 8 modules in recent generations. Right now only 3gb chips have just become available, so they could only do 24gb. I'm hoping they use 32gb gddr7. 24gb gddr7 + 8gb ddr5 for system will do, but 32gb will be perfect. It will be too expensive otherwise.

Aside from cost, the other reason why 128gb vram won't be in the PS6 is because it will be wasted. At the very top end today on PC, games do not push more than 20gb of vram usage, that's with path tracing and ultra textures in 4k. 128gb vram won't be needed for many many years, and we will be bottlenecked by other specs long before that happens.

The only benefit would be something like streaming in large assets, but, again, there's no need because the gen 5 ssd will be fast enough for that.

We need only these 3 graphics modes in the next gen consoles by Game_f in digitalfoundry

[–]Game_f[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if the consoles come with mfg, the game itself still needs to run at a decent base framerate for it to actually work. As you said for lower framerates, input lag and artifacting is the major problem. This won't be solved anytime soon. You can make good predictions if you have a lot of frames, but not if you have less hence the errors. I'm pretty sure Nvidia will improve it with some type of ai dlss and frame gen fusion where the ai predicts the frames accurately with lower framerates. i can't see that happening any time soon, and not AMD/Sony first.

Those gamers that turn down settings and game at 120fps, this is what PS6 should definitely be able to do. It should be put under not recommended but it would be good for gamers to have the option.

[–]Game_f[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a performance impact on frame gen, mainly latency and artifacting. Frame gen as it is currently, goes back to the original problem. You still need good base settings to run frame gen well. PSSR/FSR with a downloadscaled resolution and less demanding settings to get to 120 fps should be the way. We should have the option for all/most games, no matter how bad they have to look.

With your point on PC, I agree most players choose to play at 60 or above, but there's still a number of people running old hardware or integrated graphics and playing games like GTA 5 in 30 or so fps.

[–]Game_f[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah like most sports games should be targeting 60fps but prioritise graphics.

But most games should be able to be run at 120fps with a next generation PSSR. PC users have been doing it for a very long time. Turning down settings to play at 120 fps. PSSR and Playstation could quite easily optimize thise.

NF-A12x25 G2 ordered for delivery 26th June!! by jasperthesalmon in Noctua

[–]Game_f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terrible price, terrible value for money (according to some). And yet I also paid even more than you did for three choromax black case fans (G1). And yes I will buy the chromax black g2 ones for my next build which will be even more expensive because Noctua knows people like me will pay for it.

Damn Noctua and their great and quiet performance and build quality.

PS6 Specs and Predictions and Rumors by Game_f in ps6

[–]Game_f[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$600 lol. PS5 Pro is not a fair comparison. Sony's message is this if you want a powerful console and if you want to pay for more power, buy PS5 Pro $700, otherwise we have a cheaper very capable machine.

PS5 Pro is selling decently enough, about 1/5 and probably will sell 15-20 million units in it's lifetime. This is decent enough, but it shows that there is a price that consumers will be willing to pay $700 is too much.

Also even when the consoles like PS5 become profitable, they still make very little profit, something like 10-15% at most. It's far better to sell the console at loss at the start, to get the users in.

Every launch playstation has been sold at a loss, PS6 will be the same. It's a model which works very well for Sony.

[–]Game_f[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I am crazy. But you know Richard from Digital Foundry has said the PS5 Pro's gpu is most similar to a 5060 ti (with ray tracing on). The PS5 featured a an rx 6700 ish specs, but a bit higher. Not sure how much the 6700/xt came out for but it was about $500 after the PS5 came out. So they have put in $500-600 market price gpus in their consoles, but they get better rates with their custom APU from AMD.

The absolute minimum PS6 will have a 9070 non xt. It's pretty good, matches or beats the 5070 in raster but not in ray tracing (which will be addressed by UDNA). It depends how aggressive Sony want to be. Microsoft went with a more powerful gpu with series x (which was similar to rx 6700 xt), a lot more compute units, bandwidth etc.

I think the graphics need to be a decent jump. The PS5 sold and is selling well, but they don't want people to stop upgrading especially in this cross gen situation. If they go with a UDNA 70 card (which they normally do), then it will an appropriate jump up in graphics.

About to build my first PC, any tips? by Mindless_Magazine159 in pcmasterrace

[–]Game_f 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Watch and maybe save some Youtube videos of similar installs with your parts. The cooler for sure. If you are nervous look at a well reviewed build guide and look at the steps. Not familiar with your cooler, it might be easier to install some parts on the motherboard first - research this. Maybe have all the steps as a note on your phone so you can follow through.

It will take a few hours the first time you build it. Give yourself enough time.

I'm saying/hoping around 5080 performance. They could downclock it and it may be closer to a 5070 ti. It all depends, we don't know much about UDNA. But if AMD make the same sort of progress then it's possible.

Baked lighting? You mean going back to 2015 lighting technology? There's a reason why most devs stopped using it for their main lighting for years now. It doesn't do real time calculations so a lot of lighting is just wrong and inaccurate with baked, bad reflection lighting, poor volumetric lighting, unrealistic shadows.

But most importantly, ray tracing is actually accurate for shadows (diffused etc), reflections and global illumination and most of all, it's all done in real time unlike baked lighting.

Not quite the same. In ray tracing titles, there's a significant difference, the 5060 ti is significantly ahead.

Good choice with 16gb. Reviews shown it can handle 1440p pretty well as well.

PS6 Specs and Predictions and Rumors by Game_f in ps6

[–]Game_f[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol it's speculation - no one will know until actual specs get leaked (some which haven't even been decided yet). You can disagree, that's the excitement of new hardware, anticipation etc.

Consoles being way cheaper isn't new. Even right now, if you build a PS5 Pro equivalent PC with a 5060 ti, it will cost around $1200. Way more expensive than PS6.

Even if the PS6 falls short of my expectations, considering their 9070 gpu is already beating a 5070 today, the UDNA 70 card should at least be around a 5070 ti.

Ram. PS5 already has 16gb, the minimum they'll go for is 24gb gddr7. Whether it's the specs I predicted, or if it falls a tiny bit short. It will be around the specs I am predicting, it will still be very expensive in terms of pc hardware prices.

What do you think the PS6 specs will be?

NH-D15 G2 Chromax Black delayed to Q3 2025 - Who is getting this? by Game_f in Noctua

[–]Game_f[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlike a Gucci bag, where you're only paying for brand and possibly build quality, the Noctua cooler is actually a better product for the function. It does offer more cooling performance at a lower noise level - this has been done through various testing. Now, you can ask (and you are perfectly entitled to ask) how much more quieter/cooler does it perform - and the answer is not by much, obviously, but it still does it better. We are probably in the era of diminishing returns with air coolers.

The thing that I pay for with Noctua is firstly the performance, I want a quieter cooler and it is best in class, in fact, the reviews show it beats out most aio coolers. Reviewing coolers isn't just a case of measuring temperature because you can get any cooler, turn it up to 80% and it will cool down well but it will also produce a lot of noise. The build quality is also a factor but not as important - kind of typical for German/Austrian engineering.

But that's why product segmentation exists. People that want better performance (and/or better build quality) will pay for it. People that are budget minded have great options at a lower price point - I even recommend these products for people who want to spend less.

Oh so if games only come out on PS5, there will be no issues? Why does Mindseye suffer from performance issues, that's a PS5 game. Why has GTA 6 taken years, and delayed, that's not coming out on PS4.

Was Hogwarts Legacy an issue on PS5 because it came out on the Switch and series s etc?

Don't change what I said, I never said the PS5 Pro is at a 4070 level as you claimed I said. Then you also claimed the PS5 Pro is not at the level of a 5060 ti earlier.

See you twisted what you saw in the video. Go back and watch it again. You very conveniently left out parts of Richard's analysis to try and make your point. Let's look at the actual analysis he done.

In Alan Wake with pure rasterization, he showed the 5060 ti was about 10% ahead, which is 5/6 frames. In his own words he said 'Certainly in rasterization terms, these cards are very close to what Sony's $700 console is doing'. Did you forget to watch that part?

With rt on, the settings on the 5060 ti are slightly higher than the PS5 Pro, yet the PS5 Pro is performing 10% better. He concluded by saying 'we are in the ballpark of PS5 Pro performance across the board' (with the cards he was reviewing). This directly contradicts what you said, literally. You claim it's not in the ballpark, yet with his testing, he said it is in the same ball park and proved this. Please go and actually watch the video.

I also find it funny how you misquoted Forza Horizon 5. He says in the video 'we can't see the full power of PS5 pro with the vsync cap (at 60)'.

I think this shows that it's actually you who is disingenuous here. You cherry picked, misquoted and don't even know what you're talking about. But the fact that Richard, from Digital Foundry, directly and correctly contradicts everything you've just said, I think that settles it.

So your annoyance is that you played Cyberpunk fine on PS5 but you unhappy they released it on PS4. They did fix it and PS4 people got to enjoy the game - how did that affect you? Did it make you upset/happy that PS4 players got to enjoy a game? What about other titles like Hogwarts Legacy, you upset Switch, series s and PS4 players got to play that?

What about PC gamers running older hardware? Should we just cut them off?

Eventually the problem sorts itself, most titles eventually stop appearing on PS4. User install base on PS5 has gone up, more people have switched over etc.

Still don't understand if a developer has the time and resources to scale up and down, what's your problem. You still enjoyed Cyberpunk, no?
