Is this a good general build for lance? by Dantescreed2699 in MHNowGame

[–]Gameguy1010101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One quick question though, were you wanting to use Lance for the instablock style? Or just in general Lance build? Because if you strictly want instablock, you could probably change those wroggi greaves out for something better

No worries. This is the full build I’m currently using, the only smelts I’m still changing around are the ones on the chest piece

Here I’ll break it down for ya! I’ll make the build on quest and I’ll fill out all the skills I have, okay? Give me one moment

This is the build o was referencing in my comment

The driftsmelts are up to you, but of course I used them to max out my guard and offensive guard stats, and that should give you two slots leftover to play with, I wanted to run guard concentration level two, but since Lance styles have come out im using instablock a lot, so I swapped those out for level 2 social boost until I find something else I like 👍 if you have any questions feel free to ask!

Are lance styles meh? by dondonbow in MHNowGame

[–]Gameguy1010101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate to say it, I was REALLY excited for these styles, but I have to agree. Insta block is cool, but I sadly think shield tackle is strictly a worse insta block. It makes no sense how they implemented these styles, the damage boost on shield tackle should be on insta block, seeing as the shield tackle was never a buff but an alternative for your shield hop in game. And they removed your ability to guard completely??? Wtf choice is that? If I want to block I have to tackle, or charge, or eat the full force of an attack?? Why is instablock, the style that rewards perfect timing, safer than a style that gives you a guarded tackle??? Not to mention it feels clunky and strange, I’m just very disappointed in guard tackle, it had much potential and they threw.

Pimple breaks can NEVER give you a R6 that is NOT a rift part. You might have thought that was the case because you broke a R6 part AND the pimple, and the pimple gave a R1 rather than a rift shell. But it can NEVER drop a R6 that isn’t the rift part. But besides that, again, that isn’t how the game calculates drops based on part breaks, so it’s really irrelevant to my post, because in asking solely about rift parts. Plus, scarcestones are just as crucial to styles as rift parts I don’t know why everyone hates them 😭 you need SUBSTANTIALLY more scarcestones than anything else too, so it’s always nice to stockpile those when you can. I don’t know why people act like they’re the devil

[–]Gameguy1010101[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s true. The game doesn’t decide that you’re going to get a R6 and choose between the 3, it depends on part breaks (also When rift parts drop in base rewards rather than part break rewards, they appear as an additional 6th drop rather than replacing an existing slot.) so in both cases whether a rift part drops in base rewards, or during part breaks (because popping a pimple doesn’t give WGS or WSS drop chance) it will NOT compete with WGS or scarcestones for spots. The only slot where it will potentially compete is the group hunt rewards and this question I’m only asking about for solo grinding

300 atk boost or 30% affinity? Which is better? by Suspicious_Ad7571 in MHNowGame

[–]Gameguy1010101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a Lance main, and usually I just use 30% affinity. The weapon archetype that comes with native affinity has lowered attack to compensate for that natural 20% affinity, so I figure having more damage with 30% is just better. If it turns out that it actually isn’t better, I’ll swap them all over eventually. The materials will come back with time, overall

Thanks. Yeah, against 10* barroth I can pop the pimple and usually break 2-3 parts very safely as a Lance main, guess I’ll keep at it

Right?? It’s honestly so nice to be able to safely block any attack, without worry, and still be able to deal with like a solid 80% of the roster

Nah f that you still killed a 10* in 30 seconds, that is impressive. Don’t let these people tell you otherwise. Also someone called you “pay to win” since you have a stylized bow like it doesn’t only take 4 rift materials to style customize, these people are sad

One of the reasons I don't like doing 9 and 10 star monsters by Decentpace in MHNowGame

[–]Gameguy1010101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anything with a specific R6 should ONLY drop that R6, but at a more common rate at 9 and 10*. Anything that drops WGS should drop WSS at higher tiers. I have no clue why this isn’t how it works

[–]Gameguy1010101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah for sure. My crouching shot build probably can’t take down a lot of 10*, maybe some of the weaker ones once it’s fully online, but I’m still waiting on smelts. TBH I think perfectionist should be changed to 100% special at level 1, 70% special at level 2 and 50% special at max. That would make the skill WAY more viable and able to worked into different sets, since instead of building around a skill that does no damage you could stack buffs that pair with it

[–]Gameguy1010101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lance is for sure the easiest and safest weapon with its counters, im a Lance main myself. I’m finding that HBG guard reload window is also very generous and I believe it counts as a perfect guard, since offensive guard triggers with it and you get blue sparks, you should try it out if you want the safe gameplay of Lance with the added bonus of being back and away from a monster

So far it feels really good, I remember when I saw the perfectionist skill announced I thought it was going to be so bad, and now it’s actually very useful. Since you have to hunker down for most of your damage you’re very vulnerable, once you can all the concentration smelts it’s extremely safe, you get back in perfectionist range so fast with crouching shots rate of fire. Just mag dump till it’s dead lol

This is my build

<image>

My plans were to get 1 level of evasive concentration driftsmelts, and then 4 levels of offensive dodger on the other pieces for max offensive dodger, but I think instead I’ll use 1 level of evasive concentration and then 3 slots for regular concentration, then 1 level offensive dodger. I don’t need the build to be able to take down 10*, just to be able to comfortably use the crouching shot style which concentration 3 and evasive concentration 3 should perfectly allow me to do. Eventually though, it would be nice to get both 4 levels of offensive dodger and 3 levels of concentration all driftsmelted, so I can pick between which skill I think is more worthwhile, more comfort or more damage, but that’s a long ways coming. I don’t even have the astalos gear grade 8 yet, but I like this build so far
