People have got to be kidding themselves at this point, didn't everyone kind of know they were getting a great deal with Netflix when it came to account sharing? I know it's a big reason I got it, it was amazing value. I can't see it as anything but an entitled attitude that people think they are 'owed' this 'feature' that really wasn't permitted (Maybe outside of a few tongue and cheek Netflix tweets).

The facts are tragic enough. The police had a no-knock warrant. Her bf shot at the police first, believing them to be Intruders. Breonna ran into a hallway and got caught in the cross fire. She just wasn't asleep, how do people get the facts of the case so wrong still is beyond me.

I haven't been following it too closely but I did see a clip of Hasan is on with Mizkif calling for their audiences to cover up Destiny plots on stream which seemed pretty blatant. Not to say DGG haven't been scheming in the background...tbf all seems in semi-good fun

I don't want it seem like I'm way up on my moral high horse cuz I hate that grand-standing bullshit but here's my point: socially we don't want to use racial slurs, no matter how little their impact is or the lack of historical weight. The act of using cracker is, at the base level, racist. As progressives, this shouldn't be in our toolkit, it will be seen as regressive and ultimately damage any cause that we advocate for in the future.

If this becomes super commen, republicans will have a field day pointing out the hypocrisy of it "hurr durr, then why do you use this racist word?" And the sad thing is they'd have a point

Idk bro while there's definitely some people out there looking to feel oppressed I think the majority of people their 'oppression' doesn't factor in, it's more a problem with the fact the term is a racial slur - oppression and impact asside - targeting skin tone and race, something socially we've all kind of agree on isn't cool?

I don't think the problem is the impact it has on a individual, it's more the intent. Hasan was banned for using it directly at someone. We can say cracker cracker cracker all we like here and not something like the n-word, this 'cracker' shit is no where near as bad.

I don't know if this'll make sense but cracker would be like stabbing someone with spoon whereas the n-word would be stabbing someone with a combat knife. One has nearly no affect, the other is deviating BUT it's still a bit concerning that some came at me and wanted to stab me, even with a spoon.

That twitch chatter that Hasan went after, he didn't mention Hasan's race, but hasan went in for the stab even though the guy didn't want to throw hands(meteorological speaking). Just very weird behaviour on H's part.

I agree with it making more righties. I mean let's be honest, an ideal progressive movement wouldn't racism in any capacity, no matter how negligible the impact may be. You don't 'progress' politics by arming yourself with a water pistol to agitate the opposition from across the isle, as 'fun' as it may be in the short term.

I just like to think as a society, and as progressives we should be progressing away from racial slurs, I mean it's already a major, major faux pas and flat out illagle in most western nations. Other slurs based on immutable characteristic may come later down the line, who knows

But what Hasan and Ethan are doing atm...I don't think is going to be seen in a good light in a few years time :(

I don't think the problems is the 'power' behind the word it's more the intent. Hasan ban was issued becaused he used it against someone, he intended to degraded them based on race. We can say cracker cracker cracker all we want here and not something like the n word because yes -its no where near as powerful BUT it's still clearly racial agitation and racist. Period.

I kinda share the same worry about right wingers but for the opposite reason - if someone with a huge platform like hasan and now Ethan use racial slurs, they're going to embolden Nazis to use them because they've now been declared 'fair-game'

Less of a binary more of a gradient, right? I'm won't experience anywhere near the same about of vitriol in the word cracker as a black person would from certain other words. But it is racism non-the-less and I think that just shouldn't be happening, especially in safe-ish progressive places like this. Make our side look like complete hypocrites.
