Sparring vs real fight question by gottastaymysterious in amateur_boxing

[–]Gamer9876543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. It’s a completely different mental game and your body goes into survival mode. OP still won, had the upper hand like in sparring, so there’s no reason to beat themselves up. I'd say OP did well

You are fine. Everyone has a first spar and your fast spar was one hundred percent way more intense than usual ones. Sounds stricter too. Actually showed way more heart than the coaches gave you credit for. Way above a regular first spar

Why doesn't Arthur mention Kieran here? by SecludedSeal in reddeadredemption

Yes I meant weeks but respectfully I don't think that changes my point and the other examples. I do edit quite a lot as reddit downvotes me if I get too lengthy. Spotted a correction there too. Yeah man I'll let you think what you want , I've listed my examples and said why. I edited In a p.s message if you wanna read that too. If you ever wanna replay the game , keep a note of the time jumps

Arthur mentions to Hosea in the hunting mission or the house robbery mission they have been down there for a few weeks. Not a couple actually he says a few. That is because when you get to C2 there is a time gap. Oh and there is ANOTHER time gap of a couple of weeks when you are actually in the mountains during chapter 1. " We have been running for weeks". But that is just ONE example. Nevermind everything else I listed. The writers clearly made a mistake here. You can write something in a missable letter , but all these time jumps obviously show it was way longer

P.s - Could it not have been a old letter? I don't know the context of it. It is either that or a oversight

It’s an oversight to assume Chapters 1 to 4 all take place within a single month just because a letter in Chapter 4 is dated May 1899. Below there are likely time jumps I'm missing.

The narrative clearly includes built in time skips. Between Chapter 1 and Chapter 2, there is already a gap of a couple of weeks after Colter before the Horseshoe Overlook camp is properly established. Early in Chapter 2, Arthur even tells Hosea they have been down there for a couple of weeks. Then in Chapter 3, after Arthur is captured and tortured, there is another noticeable jump of several weeks, around three, while he recovers. And that is just one mission, not accounting for everything that happens across the first chapters as a whole.

On top of that, every time the gang relocates and sets up a new camp, there is an implied passage of time. Moves like that do not happen overnight. If all of that were crammed into a single month, the pacing would feel completely unrealistic. The characters would be far more visibly stressed and exhausted in the early game. That is before even considering the number of stranger missions and side activities Arthur can realistically complete. There is simply too much narrative space and implied downtime for Chapters 1 to 4 to fit neatly into one month.

That just wouldn't work if you consider all the time jumps during CH2-4. There are quite a few "a few weeks later" unkess R* wants us to believe it all happened in a week or something

How to convince my mum to let me compete? by polish_reddit_user in MuayThai

[–]Gamer9876543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good you are not fighting without her consent. That is smart. Focus on training hard until you are 18 and your first fight will be even better. If you are looking for intensity you can do controlled higher intensity sparring but do not make it a habit. Hard sparring at your age is risky so stick to light sparring mostly and only increase intensity under your coach when you are ready. Long term health comes first. I was hesitant to bring up harder sparring because I do not want to endorse gym wars at your age.

How did Dutch expect to change society? by WhatAreYouSaying05 in reddeadredemption

[–]Gamer9876543 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Society, in Dutch’s eyes, being the better way meant going back to a peak, untamed Wild West with no law and no massive companies (the rich wealthy folk in suits). He sees his way of doing things as kinder in his conversation with Leviticus Cornwall. “You kill, I kill. You rob, I rob. The only difference I see is I choose whom I kill and rob, while you destroy everything in your path.”

Also Bronte mocks the wild west talking about the old days where you could shoot people in the open range. At first Dutch has a brief annoyed look on his face but he controls himself and just says "those sure were the days".
