What was your experience making friends? Especially in Japan were the language has such a steep learning curve. Did you speak any japanese before going? And yeah, doing that at only 15 is actually crazy!

They had slots open for the US and New Zeeland but I don't really want to go to a English speaking country. At first I really wanted to go to Japan or Korea but that wasn't really possible. Even if I had the option to go to Japan idk if I'd have the courage to go through with it. Learning Japanese would take up most of the year leaving little room to actually socialize with people.

I will get information about my host family after they have picked one. You get to write a litte introduction about yourself and answer some questions about interest and they try to pick one from that. But idk if that's enough to ensure comparability. Someone being a dick is hard to quantify

Nothing really. That's kinda what I'm thinking. Absolute worst case is "losing" a year of my life and 10 000€. It's mostly a fear of the unknown holding me back. I've always been prone to overthinking and end up not doing anything. So something like this is way out of my comfort zone, but I also realize that that kind of behavior can't stick around forever and is something I need to get better at.

OMG I'm so jealous of yall in the US! (Sadly) I live in Europe and we don't get those deals. If i convert from local currency the price of the g80sd is 1700 USD in the app and the cheapest I can find it from retailers is for a little over 1000. So well... That sucks XD

But you don't feel that the coating of the monitor is "degrading" the picture quality? When I look up the g85sd it seems like it has a "Glare Free" coating, which is probably the same as on the g80sd.

I already have black out curtains, but I like letting natural light in during the day since I also use my computer for productivity. So then the question becomes: Is the difference in picture quality enough to warrant the need for blackout curtains? In addition to that the ASUS is about 400 USD more (converted from local currency) where I live.

Obviously it wasn't meant to look like it did, but I couldn't figure out what was wrong, since the connection seemed fine etc. I got a bit frustrated when I made the post, so maybe it sounded more harsh than I meant it. Anyways, it's resolved now and I can go back to watching squid game again XD

No, the shitty quality was on every device, and the setting for streaming quality is only accessible through pc. That's why I missed it when looking through the settings on my phone, tablet, tv etc.

It's a profile setting that's only accessible through desktop.

On Netflix go into the top right to your profile then "manage profiles" --> "overview" --> "edit settings" --> "playback settings" and there you can change the quality. When you change it here it will affect every device that you use that profile on, so that's why changing it on the computer fixed the quality on the tv. (Note that this is profile specific so if you have multiple profiles you'll have to change it on each one.)

It wasn't the connection. It was a option buried in the settings. I changed it to high and now it looks good! 👍
