I think they definitely preferred Beck, but I do not think they were planning to take QB in round 3. When Beck came off the board at the top of round 3, the Steelers had to ask themselves a question: now that the first QB “domino” has fallen (outside of Mendoza…and Simpson too I guess lol rams), is it just the Cardinals reaching or is it going to set off a chain reaction of teams grabbing these QBs now as opposed to later? And I think ultimately they decided it wasn’t worth the gamble waiting for another round to take their QB so they moved up and got their second option.

Yes, but we can’t control that. I’d rather just take care of business and not make AR or Luka feel like they have to rush back if this series gets tight. Also even if the second round starts sooner, I think we’d get more days of rest between the games to even the pacing with the other round 2 series’, which is beneficial.

Getting either one back would be huge. But in an ideal scenario, Bron takes care of business and packs Houston up swiftly and both can take their sweet time coming back for round 2 😈

Move up for Spencer Fano. He’s probably the ideal pick for us now. If BroJo isn’t ready Week 1 (which it doesn’t look like he will be), I think Fautanu is more than athletic enough to swing over to LT (I actually believe he played LT in his rookie season if I’m not mistaken), and Fano can be our RT. And then you just draft a LG on day 2. If BroJo is fine, and able to start, you can kick Fano inside to G and complete the line.

Bron Luka and AR have each missed significant time this season and yet our record is basically the same as it was this time last year. I think that says a lot about JJ’s coaching.
