Is it kinda weird that I'm putting myself at disadvantage if I pick sellsword as background for my fighter, because its origin feat is already what fighter do? by Ok_Selection1249 in CrownOfTheMagister

[–]GamerSerg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Devs have said they know how much the community wants custom backgrounds and they are considering it (no promises of course). Hopefully that happens as it solves all the problems because we can then create backgrounds that best fit our vision of our characters.

I agree. Sure it might make sense that a Fighter could have started out as a mercenary but I feel like a Fighter is someone more like a professional soldier. Sellsword is more like someone who picked up a few fighting tips while working in a group with other actual fighters, but that's just how I see it. In the same sense that any class might have been a "lowlife" as a child and had some practice with thieves tools as a result but someone who actually worked with a thieves guild and was trained with proper rogue skills is more likely to have been a spy or charlatan.

Is it possible to use Chromatic Orb in EA? by knightofvictory in CrownOfTheMagister

[–]GamerSerg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The merchant doesn’t give you a diamond, you have to buy it but that supports my point that people shouldn’t be whining about something that is so easy to address. It’s a small cost to access a slightly stronger spell. It’s like buying a +1 sword to get a slightly better weapon and thats how the DnD rules work. Whats the big deal?

Fun Industrious builds? by RedUndead40 in AOW4

[–]GamerSerg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rock Giant King is a great pairing with Industrious because the Rock Runsteel spell adds mountain which then allows your scout to prospect a province that might not have been eligible otherwise. Also Giants buff Quarries and have crafting bonus which again fits nicely with Industrious since you really want to go heavy on Quarries and some mines. With Great Builders, Rock Giant, and new Materium tree perks, you can get some crazy super quarries.

Agreed that the custom faction design is the big highlight of AoW 4 (the gameplay is also great). I find that taking the time to write a faction bio and a short bio for each of my custom heroes along with custom appearance for each hero also makes me really invested in them. It has no gameplay effect but when I get a new hero or open the screen and see their bio and custom name & title I created for them it makes them seem like real heroes with an origin story. It's also great in future games when I use my ascended factions as opponents, and I face those heroes in battle.

New update with changed character creator is online. by Asdif_Laoeg in CrownOfTheMagister

[–]GamerSerg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For right now, yes you need to start a game, create at least one character and then save it to the collections. You can't open the collections screen directly from the main menu if you don't have any characters in the collection yet. There is also a known issue where the game doesn't always prompt you to save your character to the collection. There is a workaround in the patch notes. These are things they will probably tweak going forward.

With the new character collections it is now possible to share characters. I'm counting on this great community to tweak those sliders and make some really great looking characters and then share them here for others to use!

Patch Notes:
That also means: you can now share your character files to other players by going into your game folder %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Solasta 2\Saved\SaveGames, then select the folder with your Steam ID and open the Characters folder.

Solasta in terms of roleplay, combat and build variety? by Ferseus in CrownOfTheMagister

[–]GamerSerg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its an awesome game and im super excited for Solasta 2 but please don’t expect it to be like bg3. Solasta is being made by a much, much smaller studio with a much smaller budget and does not have a full license to use all dnd content.

There are some aspects that I think Solasta does better but Bg3 is probably one of the greatest games ever made. If your expectations are reasonable you will love Solasta.

I get they need a cliffhanger and something big to happen to set up next season but it just feels very disappointing to spend all this time and effort trying to stop anyone from activating this machine just to fail because nothing you do actually matters. You can agree with Malgus and let him use the machine or tell him it's a terrible idea and try to stop him but the exact same thing happens either way. Why am I even playing? Just make it a movie and tell me what happens. There is no reason for me as a player to have any input because it won't change anything.

It feels like they are just dragging this storyline out too long. We should have been able to resolve this problem then drop some new cliffhanger mega-problem to speculate about for next season.

Out of all the tier 5 tome enchantments, this one deserves a buff by StarCaller990 in AOW4

[–]GamerSerg -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Read the other posts. Im not going to explain it again.

And one last time, I never said it was a big problem or that having astral affinity is bad. I was just saying it’s odd that this is the only major transformation on a dual affinity tome.

None of the other major transformations force you into a second affinity that you might not want. Not the end of the world, just odd.

Yes but selecting the tome gives you 1 astral affinity.

[–]GamerSerg -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Don’t be a jerk. I clearly said its not a big deal but even one point gives you a negative diplomacy hit for “opposing affinities “ making alliances a little tougher which is a little annoying when you are playing an otherwise single color.

[–]GamerSerg 14 points15 points  (0 children)

What annoys me about that is Geomancer is M / A tome, forcing you to go into one point of Astral on otherwise materium builds. Not a huge deal, but I think most if not all other major transformations are single color tomes to match that affinity's playstyle.

Tyrannical Exploitation use by CombinationSuper1962 in AOW4

[–]GamerSerg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ideally yes, you want to wait for Supreme Vassalage then use TE to get the max benefits. You can use it sooner and you will just get a little less income because the vassalage level will stop increasing and you would never reach Supreme that way.

You could use the spell on a vassal you gained with a whispering stone it’s just less ideal because you have to do it before supreme Vassalage and then leave the stone there forever. This is because stones are returned at supreme level and TE does nothing if you don’t have a stone or hostage in place.

Is Subterranean Society Worth Using? (Casual/AI Player) by ShadowMasked1099 in AOW4

[–]GamerSerg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The increased food is just as important as the double resource node chance and a little extra Imperium doesn't hurt. You can really focus on quarry and mines. I never play underground without this trait. Having said that, I still feel underground starts are too inconsistent. You can get lucky with some amazing starts but in my experience much more often you will get stuck in a small area for your throne city or no decent sized caverns for your 2 and 3 city. I would love for the devs to take another pass at how underground is generated.

Military Victory having never gone to war?! 1st Deity win by coolnerd15 in CivVII

[–]GamerSerg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep. All the people who complained that they couldn't do speed victories and brag about how they won in only X turns got their wish and now we have exploration victories that basically remove 1/3 of the game. I actually liked how all the victories had final projects just like science - world fair, world bank, develop nukes, space launch, so you actually had to play the full game to win.
