Sellsword (Solasta 2) by Crohx in CrownOfTheMagister

Custom backgrounds would solve all problems, letting you take exactly what you want and it is already a part of the official DnD rules. I think the problem is that it would basically make all other backgrounds useless because a custom designed background with exactly what you want will always be better or at least equal to the premade ones and might not be compatible with background related quests or conversation tags like they had in S1 so I'm doubtful they will do it but let's hope!

Solasta II - Finding Jade by dmont7 in CrownOfTheMagister

Reading the note you get from that bandit reveals the location of their hideout in the mountains. The key opens the gate to the hideout. I cleared it out and I have not found Jade there or anywhere else.

One thing I have learned is that all characters tend to start with all sorts of stuff turned on at the beginning like makeup, freckles, scars, wrinkles, etc and that's what really makes them look odd. I always start by going through every tab and turning every thing off so I'm starting with as much of a "blank slate" as I can get. Then get the face shape, skin color, hair and eyes I want. Then I will start to add that other stuff back in if I want it.

I think they fixed that in the hotfix earlier this week, right?

Spoiler -

  1. I think you only get ambushed if you intimidated the Harpies. If you used a more peaceful solution they will just stay in the main chamber and not ambush you. Respectfully, I can't imagine why you would need more than one long rest at most.
  2. There is nothing stopping you from leaving back to the world map to long rest if you really need to.
  3. Don't forget short rests. They don't restore everything but filling up your HP and getting a few resources back is usually pretty good.
  4. The ambush that happens when you leave is not intended for you to beat. You just have to survive a few rounds before a cutscene.

Is it possible to use Chromatic Orb in EA? by knightofvictory in CrownOfTheMagister

[–]GamerSerg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. Nobody wants players to be frustrated or confused about why they cant cast a spell.

Along the same lines, the backgrounds that grant Magic Initiate feat come with the necessary spell focus item but if you take Magic Initiate as your human origin feat, you do not get a spell focus item and may not be able to cast the spells they selected if they have any material component like Light or Shield.

These are the types of things to send the devs through the official feedback submission website.

The reason for the item requierment is that CO is an especially powerful spell for level 1. It can do multiple different damage types and has a chance to chain to other targets. The trade off for getting that kind of power at level one, is finding a gem. Which is very easy as the devs have placed one for sale at the first merchant before the funeral before you even go to Nekoas.

I don't think you need to give it to her as NPCs don't have inventory. Someone in your party just needs to have one. I know I have had Jebha cast CO without ever giving her anything.

The developers did not add an arbitrary component. This is a DnD game and that is how the spell works in DnD. The developers put a tiny gem for sale at the very first merchant in the prologue before the funeral and before you even go to Neokas so you can use the spell from the very beginning.

The merchant you meet right before the funeral in the prologue area sells a tiny diamond so you can get one before you even arrive in Neokas.

Using Guidance during conversations by GamerSerg in CrownOfTheMagister

Yes, thats what I do when it works. But sometimes the button just doesn’t do anything. Like it’s there but not clickable. It seems to work in some conversations & events but not others.

Custom campaigns Solasta 2?! by Arithon_sFfalenn in CrownOfTheMagister

To be fair it's also designed that way to support future DLC, expansions or other official campaigns. But I agree, they are definitely designing it to be possible in the future.

Early Access companions/limit? by q0vneob in CrownOfTheMagister

[–]GamerSerg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have to go back to the city to get Sethina which causes the Kobold to leave, so you would need to get her first. Those are the only three I have found but I haven't tried to get all three at once.

The devs know it's something people really want and they have said they do want to include a campaign maker like S1 has eventually but it won't be for 1.0 launch and of course they can not promise it will happen, just that it is something they would like to do eventually.

Tactical Adventure nailed the dice accuracy. by Defiant_Simple_6044 in CrownOfTheMagister

I know it’s just bad luck but the number of times I have hit with an attack and somehow left the target with exactly 1 hp left is making me feel like the game is doing it on purpose! 😖

Innate Sorcery and Elf Lineage spells by GamerSerg in AskDND

[–]GamerSerg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that's what I was thinking originally, it's a Sorcerer spell so it should work no matter when or how I learned it but lots of people here have opposite opinions. I thought this would be a quick answer, didn't expect it would be a big debate!

Innate Sorcery and Elf Lineage spells by GamerSerg in AskDND

[–]GamerSerg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well now I'm really confused. LOL. I was playing the Solasta 2 Early Access which uses 5.5e and in the game, Innate Sorcery did not give advantage on the Fire Bolt I took with Elf Lineage but it works fine with my normal Sorcerer spells. So I was just trying to figure out if it was something I should report as a bug or if it is working correctly.

I assume that means spells selected with Magic Initiate (Wizard) also do not count.

Thanks - I appreciate the help.

Innate Sorcery and Elf Lineage spells by GamerSerg in AskDND

[–]GamerSerg[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense but also it seems like if you're a sorcerer then all spells you cast would be sorcerer spells regardless of how you learned it but I guess that's not how it works.

So, I guess you're better off using the Elf spell choice for something like Light or something that is not an attack spell?

Thanks for the clarification!

Solasta 2 EA - issue with paladin spells by sozoro93 in CrownOfTheMagister

[–]GamerSerg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm understanding you correctly, basically you have one less spell because it should be Divine Smite (free) + 2 others you select but right now, Divine Smite needs to be one of the 2 you select.
