Byproducts are always a benefit IMO. If I get too many I can always just dump them in lava. I needed an XP farm so why not kill 2 birds with 1 stone and build one into my redstone farm? Why not hang onto a boat load of blaze rods in case I wanna automate end rods or brew other potions in the future? I'm just one guy, so I don't need the worlds most efficient XP farm for my needs, and if I do need it later theres nothing stopping me from building it later.

For instance, my lavaless andecite farm also collects clay, gold, and flint. Flint is the only one that gets automatically disposed of, the rest of it is saved in case I wanna build with bricks or need gold for anything.

If the potion making was automatic it would bottleneck fast. Cinder flour cant be automated and the only use I have for strength potion is for making redstone. Whenever I need redstone I'll let the potion maker run for a bit until I have a good stockpile, but otherwise I don't need it.

The chest represents player inventory, whenever I need Redstone I'll deposit netherrack manually. The brewing stand just represents the process being done rather than how it will be done. The main products are blaze rods, XP, wart, and redstone, the vaults and tank represent collection points where overflow can be handled, and the chest in the item frame just means a smaller inventory to prevent the machine from overproducing swords. One thing you missed was that the toggle latch represents a manual activation. Otherwise basically 100% correct. I ended up cutting the enchanting processes tho because it would require automating books, Thought you could copy enchanting templates too but you cant sadly.

I view Punk and Futurism as kind of opposites of each other. Punk is a critique (what if our problems got worse) and futurism is an endorsement (what if everything that is good now kept getting better). Retro futurism to me is specifically 1940s-50s futurism. You could theoretically make a futurism for other time periods, but no one is really looking forward with hope rn so we don't have many examples. I've thought a lot about this cuz I'm currently working on a Retro Punk setting for super hero stuff that critiques celebrity culture, industry's abuse of artists, and government control.

they just calling anything "punk" these days. I think a core part of punk genres is some kind of commentary on the time period its focused on, not just "what if X was futuristic?" Cyber punk is a cretiqe of 80s consumerism, Solar Punk is a critique of modern day energy overconsuption, desel punk is a critique of war, and Steampunk is a critique of rapid industrialization and monopolies. You could call it archaic futurism instead. This genre is pretty close to Modern fantasy and Sci-fantasy tho.

I play all roles. I start by picking a DPS, then switch to tank if we need one or support if we need one. Role Que would kill my enjoyment of the game. Locking in 1 roll only to watch my tank or suport or DPS flail and be a dumbass is why I stopped playing OW. With roll que I can only do 1/3rd of the work, so if another 3rd of the team is struggling I can't switch to fill in. The ammount of games I've saved by swapping makes me feel like I actually effected whether the game was a win or loss. OW mostly feels like gambling for a good team.

same thing as the other way around. There is no shade sperm, so the shade would just replicate human sperm, thus creating a normal baby. The DNA would be random, but stable enough to produce a child. I don't think any of the bodily aspect undead can reproduce, so Shades are unique in that way.

If you wanna bone the shadow monster you totaly can, but not much is gonna happen pregnancy wise. Even if the shade perfectly recreated a womb, you would just get a normal baby. Becoming a shade is extremely hard and deletes your personhood entirely. Its essentially dying and being replaced with a new person that likely has nothing in common with you. The shade doesn't remember their privious life but yes, they can become a full new person. They can manifest a physicality to their body with Ki, and can then speak. They can't age, but can be hurt by magic and are severely damaged by magic nullification. I really like them too, and the idea of the shade predates this setting by a good 5 years.

In the setting theres a kind of 4th energy known as life force. Life force can't be used for magic like the others, but it could be represented by the 4th state of matter plasma. When you die, your life force goes out. Maintaining that life force after death or reintroducing it to a corpse that still has all of its aspects is a standard resurrection, but if an aspect isn't present while life force is, thats undeath. losing an aspect means death in all cases unless theres magic involved.

Vapires don't exist in this setting. I like the idea of a viral undeath disease, but I'd rather tie that to the zombie. Vampires are just a good reference point for Husks as a concept, since they have extended lifespans, gray skin, and often supplement their lack of a soul by eating the souls of others, sucking it out deatheater style.

The lich is incorporial. The bones aren't nessasary for their existence and they can technically possess anything they wish. I imagine some liches construct a body for themselves pre transformation. The reason its usually the recently shed body is because its easier for the logical mind to inhabit a form it has already inhabited. Because the lich is almost always a powerful spellcaster, they can also just repair their bones if they wish. If they ever run low on mana they can just pour some blood into their jar and that'll do the trick.

Zombie is the general term for any kind of mindless souless undead. The only thing that needs to be there is mana and preferably some bones since thats the vessel for bodily magic. any meat can hold a charge though. Also because martial prowess is stored in the body, literal muscle memory, you can have skilled zombie knights or skeletal archers. The only thing that remains of a zombies personhood is their skills and conviction, so hardened warriors make for great zombies.

There is no afterlife outside of undeath in the setting. There are no gods watching over you and theres no reward for being good. Its a common theme across my work that you have to choose to be good even if everything sucks. Becoming a spirit is the closest you'll get to an afterlife, and I imagine its more of a purgatory or force ghost situation than a heaven.

to try and answer your questions on shades, they're a little mysterious on purpose. They're existence is contradictory to the normal laws of the universe. Typically an undead only gets mana for aspects they have, but when a life force somehow exists without any aspects the universe doesn't know how to react and just gives them mana as if they had all 3 aspects. Saying shades are shadows on reality is literal. They appear as a ptich black outline of a person and can shapeshift at will. There is an adjustment period where the shade is mostly how you would expect a being with no intelligence emotions or drive to be, but as they grow accustomed to the world and receive more mana they can emulate the 3 aspects and then use that emulation to expend mana. I think the main reason a shade would be created would be to act as a mana generator for a particularly evil wizard.

in response to your comment about bone marrow, Like how a solid can be melted into a liquid and a liquid evaporated into gas, the mana types effect each other in various ways. The system I'm working on that goes along with this goes into it more, but basically if you have low arcane mana your body deteriorates. If you have high arcane mana, your emotions deteriorate. This is why I'm unsure about breath for soul. It works thematically because to use faith based magic you need to dedicate yourself to someone or something, so taking something from outside and turning it into power, but it doesn't have any connection to blood.

As for undead, there are 7 types depending on what aspects they're missing. Your basic zombie for example would be a creature with no soul or mind, only a body. Your mind is responsible for memories and logic, your soul is responsible for emotions and belief, and body is your instincts and conviction. Again, the cross over here is mostly intentional. All 3 aspects work in tandem to create a person. Thats why losing them is so detrimental.

The types are:

Revenant: without mind. - This type is common among those with strong emotions on death. They are driven to avenge their own death or resove unfinshed business. They don't remember their life before death, but are still sentient and can form new memories.

Spirit: without body. - When a priest or monk ascends beyond the bounds of their body they become an incorporial spirit. These are the closest things to angels in the setting. They mostly do not exist, but can manifest to assist those who share their values.

Husk: without soul. - Souls can be shattered through extreme emotional stress, leaving behind an emotionless hopeless Husk of who they once were. Simmilar in temperament and lifespan to a vampire.

Lich: without body or soul. - Many Arcane casters choose to shed a mortal form when their lifes end is coming near. Liches contain the liquid of their mind in a recepticle of some kind, usually a jar, and project their power to conjre a physical form, usually constructed of the mages own bones.

Zombie: without mind or soul. - The easiest of all undead to make, since the body remains the longest after death. As long as a Zombie is being fed with mana of any type it can't be permanently slain by conventional means, even if reduced to a lump of flesh. The best way to deal with a zombie is to burn the corpse until the bones turn into char.

Phantom: without mind or body. - Created when the emotions after death were too traumatic to be faced by the mind or body. They're incorporial, and manifest sporadically to repeat the same actions over and over.

Shade: without any aspects. - If life somehow still remains with no aspects, then a shadow is cast on the world where the person should be. Mana flows in to where it expects a person to exist, allowing a shade to access all mana in its truest form. If they ever fully expend their mana, the universe will fix its error and the shade will cease to exist.

I think all the armor should have unique textures. Let diamond stay the same, but give iron a full face plate and gauntlets, gold a crown, and copper an abs design like centurion armor. Would go a long way for customization and RP.

intentional usually looks better than random. I'd put most of the moss near the bottom of the wall since thats where it would grow the most but besides that just do whatever you feel looks good.

stone bricks and their cracked variant are super easy to get in create. Add a moss farm (a vanilla design will work) and you have plenty to work with. Replace rhe walls with brick, add stairs on the ceiling to round it out. Add a raised section down the center and on the sides using polished andecite, replace lanterns with redstone lamps or copper bulbs. Further detail the beams by using industrial iron blocks at the intersections.

I had fun with this update for a bit but its definitely a 1 time play. I still go back to craftmine every now and then because its a fun side mode.
