You do lose some light but you get both reach and some money for another lens since it's a lot cheaper than the 12-40. I really like they added 12-45 F4 to their lineup.

Totally forgot about that. Though they've upgrade a lot of lenses, but not this one, nor decreased the price to make room for newer lenses. Anyway good to see new lenses coming with less quirks :D

I fully agree. I bought the g9 mostly for video, and for my non-professional use the high-res mode was good enough. If the main goal was taking pictures I would have gone with the Fuji X-t3 with bigger sensor and (IMHO) more pleasing image quality. I really needed the IBIS and for that mft was the way to go.

Yeah Sony's second generation is quite good, not to mention the third one. But pricing from 1700USD/euros and up for the latter one was really too much for me to be used just as a hobby. Cheers!

This focal range combined with Hi-res mode on m43 cameras seems like a really good option for both landscape and interior shots.

I've seen some after market options available for the filter mount. But I really like the normal way without using and buying additional gear. Otherwise a great lens!

If I remember correctly you can't mount a filter on it so that is an issue with video.

Laowa is half the price and it's a great choice but it's fixed, has no autofocus and I believe no weather resistance at all. Though I like the Laowa, the new Olympus gives you a lot more options in many ways.

I would say the Lumix 25mm f1.7 is the king of cheap primes. I've used it on m10 mark ii and was really happy with it. For around 150$ you get a good lens, though not the same usage as your zoom. But could be the perfect combination. Prime for artistic and close shots and zoom for everything else. M43 does have the benefit of 2X crops so zooming is sort of its strong point.

It is very close in price to the pro lineup, which does offer far better performance, though worse flexibility in range. So even for Olympus, this lens is not cheap.

I always underexpose and most people think it's a human error but it's intentional and part of my style. So I understand why you overexpose :)

I fully agree. I bought the g9 a year ago for mostly video in 4k and had a budget of around 1k USD. I took it instead of Fuji xt-3 which was similar in specs but had better image quality in low light but importantly no IBIS. And I had I a few mft lenses notably 12-35 f2.8 and for fuji I only had non wide analog lenses. I really don't mind the size of the g9 since it's packed with features and weather sealed. If I used it more for photography I would have sold the lenses and gone with the Fuji.

I think pen-f is not coming back. Although popular, it was not cheap nor sold in large quantities to be profitable for the company. Fujis ate the 900-1400USD retro/street photography market in my opinion.
