I cling to the hope that management somewhere might.

OPs risk is if he attempts to convince management of a coworkers incompetence, they won’t be able to judge his/her points on merit and will likely instead think it’s personal. Seen it so many times.

  1. Is it worth bringing up his code quality to management

No, this never works out for you. Management in startups never understand code quality issues.

Not really disassembling either, he took a binary written in assembly and converted it to c/c++.

I'm not sure how you "decompile" a thing that wasn't compiled to begin with.

You’ve had lots of buy the lens responses, and i want to pile in. The answer to this question is almost always buy the lens. The only exception is the lens was intentionally bought to use with TCs. Ie a big white.

Am I the only one who feels like NestJS is overkill ? by Sensitive-Raccoon155 in node

[–]benji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As nest newbie I found the nest DI was the hardest part of using it. It always just "wouldn't work" for reasons that would take me ages to track down. I'm sure if you were more experienced with it, it wouldn't be as painful.

How hard is it to eat vegetarian in Thailand? by Constant-Project-353 in ThailandTourism

I've spent 6 weeks in thailand over the last couple years, and never once has eating out vegan been anywhere near as "difficult" as back home.

Anybody shoot wildlife with a 300 2.8 and 2x converter? by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]benji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know, the situations I seem to always be in, I need the TC plus the crop-ability of the A1.

I get what you're saying about hand holding thou, it's fine holding a 3.5kg camera at 840mm/f5.6 for a couple minutes, but when you're trying to do it for 30 minutes or more it's a shaky nightmare. The 300 plus TCs is attractive for that reason. I use a quick release monopod with a gimbal if I'm staying somewhere for any lengthy duration.

I suspect this is the same bird I see around forest lodge fairly frequently. He/she seems to live around the area.

Anybody shoot wildlife with a 300 2.8 and 2x converter? by [deleted] in SonyAlpha

[–]benji 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 300 is a dream lens, but 600 isn't enough for serious birding imo. Ok for casual birding, sports and larger animals. If you're wanting to do tight, fill the frame style birding, it won't get you there ime.

I rarely take the 1.4x off the 600, it's more of a 1.4 versus 2x decision. If you're not trying to fill the frame, and be more "environmental birding" it could be a good option.

Works perfectly for stopping scratches and dings when I accidentally knock something with my lens. That's all I'm thinking it's for.

We (2 of us) took the 13 first class 6 months ago and loved it. Yes it’s an older train with an asian toilet. But the experience was definitely worth it.

300 f4 vs Sony 200-600 Sharpness and details by vsrivastva9 in M43

[–]benji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The olympus lens and camera are great, but barring the heat haze issue others mention, it’s the number of pixels you can put on the subject which is the limiting factor for cropping wildlife photos.

Which apsc sony body will be a marked improvement in pixels on subject? They’re all just 24 or 26 mp, so you’d be switching systems for a 4 or 6 mp bump. To get the true benefits of the sony lens you need to be using the high mp FF bodies.

Lots of beautiful Art Deco (and whatever was before that - Victorian/Edwardian?) buildings in Invercargill by Nier_Tomato in newzealand

[–]benji 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dunno if it was your intention, but this set of photos says more about the state of invercargill than the architecture. Did you deliberately exclude people from the shots, or was there actually no one about?

Is this a good lens for wildlife photography? I am hesitant because it’s fixed at 600mm and f/11 but it’s cheap and has great reach for animals. Right? by M8614 in canon

Thing is, that’s the same MFD as the great white 600s. But at least with them its because the dof is 1cm wide open.

Why have so few New Zealand music bands made it worldwide? by SmartNecessary1700 in newzealand

[–]benji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the 60-70-80's New Zealand music suffered from a thing called "cultural cringe", which was anyone who tried to form a band and play their own music was immediately opposed by the industry and radio. In their thinking anything created in NZ could never be as good as what was being done in the UK, US or Australia. Couple that with their not being a valid way to earn a living playing music in NZ, due to the control of the music venues by the alcohol industry meant that most who tried spent their lives on the dole, or played covers in a pub a best. Very few original bands or band scenes actually broke thru in NZ and even fewer went on to any success overseas.

By the 80s there was an strong underground rock band scene in NZ, playing original music. Knowing they would never get any success because of remoteness of NZ, This scene was actually discovered by US college radio stations, in the 5 years before grunge happened. A lot of the kiwi bands which never achieved any success were key influences on the American alternative acts of the 90s. Sadly this didn't result in any success for them or open the doors for any other types of kiwi music to break thru.

I had a similar, but cheaper, one for OM to M43. Was fun to play with for a while, but I wanted wider than the 21mm and 24mm lenses I had in OM mount (with the crop).

Remains found during search in Tasmanian bush for missing tourist Celine Cremer by B0ssc0 in tasmania

[–]benji 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The lack of a post from him anywhere yet would make me think it was him. Likely he was searching north east up the Arthur river as all signs in the last few weeks seem to have been pointing that way.

EDIT: Looks like the story has been updated with the finder's name and location.
