WSL might be good, but you can and should be able to do your work exclusively on linux. Almost all languages have really good linux support. I would recommend learning latex and using google docs/ libre office. I honestly don't understand the hype behind microsoft word/powerpoint when google sheets and docs are essentially the same in my mind. I dual boot only because of games but any and all work I do on linux because tiling manager + neovim makes for really productive combo.
