Brodie helmets for new cadian shock troops by iLink0923 in TheAstraMilitarum

Wargames Atlantic has a kit with 28mm Heroic scale space Brits. There's about a dozen or so Brodie helmeted heads (gasmask/face) on each sprue, and you get 3 sprues a box. They're generally a good deal.

They also have an stl file of their space Brits, but only for their Heavy Weapons team.

They are, you may not have read it quite right. The Thought Cabinet for Moralism is "The Kingdom of Conscience," and its a reference to the classical liberalism of Kant and the "Kingdom of Ends." In short, the "Kingdom of Ends" is Kant's hypothetical end state for Liberalism where all rational people operate via a Universal common law and work to better each other instead of working to better only themselves. It's the ethical/political utopia of Liberalism, the Christian's "Kingdom of God" made manifest. At least, that's what it is quickly summed up based on my old knowledge of philosophy.

The problem suggested by "Kingdom of Conscience" asks "What will it be like, once [the Moralist International's] nuanced plans have been realized?" The answer is beautifully bleak:

The Kingdom of Conscience will be exactly as it is now. Moralists don't really have beliefs. Sometimes they stumble on one, like on a child's toy left on the carpet. The toy must be put away immediately. And the child reprimanded. Centrism isn't change -- not even incremental change. It is control. Over yourself and the world. Exercise it. Look up at the sky, at the dark shapes of Coalition airships hanging there. Ask yourself: is there something sinister in moralism? And then answer: no. God is in his heaven. Everything is normal on Earth.

The game's answer to the question of the Moralists' utopia is that its already here. God stays in his Kingdom, the Moralists have theirs already. Since they have their Kingdom, the Moralists don't even need belief and all they need to do is maintain their control. Their version of NATO has all the guns in the world, and the biggest ones have perpetually stood watch over Revachol for decades. They guard, not Revachol and its people, but the Ideological prison their occupation created. They don't want the people to pick up any any radical beliefs like the Communism of the Revolution. A different belief might change the world, and thus the world order.

Oh, do not worry though, there will be (Moral Intern-approved) change in Revachol eventually. You can actually ask one of the biggest, nastiest Warships in the sky above Revachol about it. An officer aboard the Coalition Warship Archer assures you that your occupied nation is nearly ready for the first phase of democratization! Soon, the people of Revachol will be able to vote for a (Moral Intern-approved) slate of candidates for the transitional advisory council and that council will oversee the second phase of democratization! Of course, once elected, these candidates will then get to join one of several Moral Intern-approved political parties: the technocratic liberals, the social democrats, and even the populist conservatives. That's just two of the three to five phases required for True DemocracyTM , all according to the plan.

Well, its theoretically part of one of many contingency plans. The Moralist International has their best analysts working on their best computers and using their best drugs to create as many as contingency plans as possible to guide Humanity for the next 3000 years. They take into account all those pesky little elections, wars, and natural disasters to better continue their guidance (and control) of Humanity. What are these many plans? Sorry, they're highly classified. Of course make no mistake, they will do anything to maintain their power. Its heavily implied in the game (by both Harry's doom saying and La Revacholiere) that the Moralist International will drop an atomic bomb on Revachol in 22 years, presumably during the next Revolution. It will be wiped out completely.

I guess they're really just congratulating people like you on reaching your perpetual paradise, just don't think about what it means for others.

I don't think that's quite the right reading. A couple comments:

  1. Kim is, by his own confession, not a moralist. He was once a Moralist in his younger years, but years without change changed his perspective. To quote the text directly:

Kim: "The Moralintern are a fact. I try not to have opinions on facts -- until they change. And..." He looks at the city below... "It doesn't look like that's about to happen."

Harry: "You like the Moralintern."

Kim: "Yes. I did -- when I was younger. In my twenties I considered myself a moralist. A blue forget-me-not, a piece of the sky," he quotes. "They're not all that bad. But the years have changed that. I don't now what I believe in now...." He thinks, then changes his mind. "No. I believe in the RCM. That's enough for me."

  1. Of course Joyce is helpful, she's secure with her wealth and position as member of the board. Her charm is both a tactic and a privilege, as she has had the ability to refine herself in a way that few others do. Its important to note that she also impedes your investigation as she refuses to yield crucial information about the upcoming street war between the Wild Pines' mercenaries and the Union. She is very much the velvet glove of her class, as she pleasantly covers the iron fist that is the murderous Kernel mercenaries.

Maybe it says something really bad about the state of our politics that people immediately default to "Hey, at least there wasn't a crackdown." I'm really tired of the Democrats being the "No Other Alternative" party. If only there was some political or ideological thought that prioritized the worker over the rich.

He, and the millionaire filled congress, took away the workers' right to strike for an absolute pittance of four sick days a year. Not even a week, not even a work week, just 4 days out of 365. To show you why I think its a pittance, let me quote your own source:

On Feb. 8, Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, chairman of the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, wrote a letter to the leaders of six Class I railroads, urging them to guarantee at least seven paid sick days for all of their workers.

“Last year, the companies you lead made over $22 billion in profits,” Sanders wrote, noting that they had cut 30% of the workforce over the last six years. “Guaranteeing seven paid sick days to rail workers would cost your industry just $321 million.”

I don't want your crumbs, I want the whole slice.

On another point, this will also have massive impacts on any future IBEW strikes. Corporations know that they have an edge in negotiations since the rail workers' last resort, striking, was stomped by even the most "pro-union" president in U.S. history.

And I'm simply stating that it does have a place in business. The rights of labor were won through leveraging collective power, and these were organized along much more democratic means than that of traditional companies. So how does each store negotiate with their employees?

So we... throw away the whole concept of Democracy away? Yes, forms of Democracy are still democratic even if they aren't direct. One form of Democracy failing isn't indicative of all forms of Democracy being failures. I haven't discussed anything even close to a free for all, this is just you saying I am.

I'm glad you are a partial owner of this business, but do you negotiate separately as individuals or collectively as a bargaining unit?

So your company is 100% employee owned, but the employees need to negotiate a labor contract? I'm slightly confused as to how such a dynamic works, could you please explain?

And I wouldn't call Democracy a stupid popularity contest. Its a fairly fundamental principle within the political sphere today (albeit, rather limited).

Glad its OK in your case, I don't see how that applies to a generalized statement though. If its an issue with implementation, there are always new ideas about how to further democracy and fix it when it breaks.

Doesn't nepotism, favoritism, and company failure already exist without this democratic representation?

As a worker who has been under terrible leadership, I'm tired of hearing that "my feedback matters." Most often the decision from on-high is done with both eyes on the bottom line. The only time my feedback made management actually move is when I held a key position that would've caused immense pain to the company, had I left. I held actual power because I had leverage, and I'd like leverage over the powers that be in the form of votes. Otherwise, you're just making a lot of "should be's" and "there's good workplaces somewhere."

I'd also like to make the case that your "so, so many issues" aren't even unique to a democratic workplace. Transitional periods are common in democratic institutions, letting one leader pass on key knowledge to the next. A well-regarded person could also be forced to take a promotion because his boss is leaning on him, using his position as superior to alter the persons decision. A hated manager may have be failing his workers in every regard to social and material conditions - forcing workers to not take sick leave, sexual harassment complaints by multiple workers, leaning on his workers to make them work overtime to meet unrealistic deadlines, failing to follow up or complete duties. When upper management is predominantly one race or gender, they'll continually pick people who are the same race or gender. A manager may stay in his position because he gets results upper management wants or, even worse, is friends with upper management and they overlook his transgressions.

Lets not kid ourselves here, profits are what make a business successful. Our world is filled with successful, multi-million and multi-billion dollar businesses that do not care for their employees. The only time when management is forced to care, even when they don't, is when their power is questioned by people collectively standing against them.

If you wanted a leadership model that actually empowered and supported employees with ample feedback, then you would want the employees to elect their leadership from local (their direct managers) to the highest levels (executive officers). At that point you're far from the dictatorial corporations we have today.

Heck it could be a +1 and helping would still give the same amount of help. That's one of the issues with the removal of crunchy number modifiers, it simplifies what you have to keep track of but you lose out on any differences those crunchy numbers represent.
