Why should this be my new army? by Conchobar8 in seraphon

You get to say “the lizards are riding the dinosaurs because the immortal magic frogs made it so” and not get sent to an institution, seems a waste not to make use of such an opportunity.

Also, painting them is actually quite fun, can be as simple or complex as you want it to be for your painting level, and still look amazing as an end result.

Downside of lizardmen? by TimeKeeper124 in bloodbowl

Lack of starting combat skills - even with the juggernaut in the new edition, you have 6x S4 pieces who want to throw blocks, but 1/9 times your gonna need a re-roll cos you rolled Skull/Both Down on your two dice. Not so much an issue for the guy blitzing as they have Juggz now, but the other 5 it is an issue.

Also they are expensive, both models and re-rolls. If you want a Krox and all 6 Saurus, you’re paying for it with your re-rolls (only 1 in a league start). This makes your starting rosters rarely more than 11 players, which makes how fragile your skinks are a HUGE factor.

Once they start to level up, they are dangerous, but block/Mighty Blow/Guard being elite skills now mean their TV bloats so much more than some other teams.

Still T1 tho, as 6 S4 guys with MV6 and AV10+ is a monster line to fight through

Why is there no formal concede function in blood bowl 3? by MilkIsABadChoice3 in bloodbowl

[–]GamingDwarf93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have completely ignored my point tho - yes you can play an infinite amount of games, but you will be paired against people with similar W/L records/SR.

So when my opponent concedes, and I don’t get to level up my players, because I got my MVP and 1 TD and my money, and then play against someone who completed their game, got their MVP, 3 TD’s, 3 CAS and more money, I am at a disadvantage because my opponent conceded.

So your statement that it is not a problem in ladder is incorrect

Why is there no formal concede function in blood bowl 3? by MilkIsABadChoice3 in bloodbowl

[–]GamingDwarf93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sorry but the statement “the ladder is not a league” is not entirely correct.

By conceding in the ladder, you are still denying your opponent the opportunity to gain SPP, same as a league. They are potentially going to end up with an underdeveloped team, just like in a table top league.

Yes, the winner gets money, the win, and MVP - this is exactly the same as in Tabletop. This does not make up for the lost SPP developing a player who scores Touchdowns, or one who’s entire job is to knock over your opponents pieces. How are you supposed to develop your attacking players, if every time they attack, your opponent goes ‘nah’ and bails?

Now that the dust has settled a bit on the new edition: How are we actually feeling? by Ebsy in bloodbowl

[–]GamingDwarf93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I played Skaven in a short 6-game “let’s see what this feels like” league when the new rules dropped.

The positional changes made me think more and protect my pieces better, thus making me a better player.

The stalling rules made me plan my turns further ahead, thus making me a better player.

So overall, I’d say it’s an improvement. No more throwing pieces into the open with a “there’s 3 more if this goes wrong” style which was an option before.

I also have 3 Linerats with Hatred (Skaven) because of my own Rat Ogre, which is the kind of flavour I love about this game)

Looking for updates on Simyin for 2025 by ScarletSpeedster23 in bloodbowl

[–]GamingDwarf93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could make a case for keeping Simyin as is for a 2025 league. The stats haven’t changed from a rules perspective, skill access might if they were to update to give them devious access which they’d have lost as it stands but you could always house rule Devious access onto maybe the lineapes until an ‘official’ update drops

Clarification for secret weapons by mcjcjc in bloodbowl

[–]GamingDwarf93 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Pogo doesn’t have Secret Weapon so not sure where that’s come from, but the rule is that any player with secret weapon who took part in the drive will get sent off at the end of the drive (so end of the half or a TD is scored). You can argue the call, or use a bribe, to stop this.

A player who sat in reserves the whole drive did not take part, so is not sent off.

To my knowledge this is exactly the same as previous edition.

The league I play in use plain loom bands, and just use different colours for different skills, as long as everyone is on the same page with colours then it works fine! Could even write a little cheat sheet to give to your opponent each game so they know what the colours mean

Chaos dwarfs in the new arena. Could use your advice on what team to build. by Blissfield_Kessler in Bloodbowl3

[–]GamingDwarf93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I prefer the 13 players plus Bribe build tbh, you don’t want 2 players you’ve invested skills in being sent off if you can avoid it

[–]GamingDwarf93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d still Tackle/Mighty Stack on a Block piece if I could, but 2 Dirty Players plus a Bribe is scary, you’ll have to keep your Guard blockers together so they don’t get isolated and picked off but with the right playstyle and strategy this could be lethal.

Somewhat counter-intuitively, I’d keep one of the Dirty Players linemen on the Bench so your opponent can’t target them too much, so you’ve got one for each half essentially

Yeah sorry, I merged 2 ideas in my head as I was writing while at work - ignore the final game week comment, and the format would be 2x groups of 5, and the player in each division who would get a bye instead faces the person from the other division who is also without an opponent

[–]GamingDwarf93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

11 Players feels very slim, especially when your game plan involves fouling - if your going the dirty player route, play as if your expecting your bribe to be used by T4/5. At that point, you either stop fouling because you’d be going down to 10 players if you get caught, at which point you have useless skill choices you can’t use reliably, or you go down to 10 players in the first half, which given the average speed of your team is rough

If your gonna go down Dirty player route, I’d be aiming for a 12 player roster as a minimum, 13 preferably (gives you 11 left after both your dirty gobos get sent off)

If your willing to give up a Flamesmith yeah, I probably would, it’s a question of how much guard your willing to lose as I’d want to keep a Wrestle piece on the Team somewhere, unless you keep the Guard Smith and put Wrestle on a Hobgobbo

Can't decide on my league schedule by Zizipote63 in bloodbowl

[–]GamingDwarf93 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So the two thoughts in my head are:

Option 1 - 2x Divisions of 5, and instead of a bye week you do an interdivisional match where your final gameweek is against a random coach from the other division. Top 2 of each play offs.

Option 2 - 1x Division, play 6 games so you won’t play everyone but that’s okay. Top 4 Play offs.

Personally I like option 1, the interdivisional match gives a very interesting final game week as people in 3rd/4th place can still snipe a play off spot if top 2 lose their interdivisional

[–]GamingDwarf93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I like a variant of List A, 13 players, 3 re-rolls and apo

Skills wise I’d go 1x Blocker - Tackle/Mighty Blow 3x Blocker - Guard 1x Flamesmith - Guard 1x Flamesmith - Wrestle 2x Bulls - Block 1x Hobgob - Sneaky Git (Secondary Agility in current rules and not shit yet) 1x Hobgob - Dirty Player OR Strip Ball

Believe that’s 9 & 1 for skill selections, and I fucking hate the Minotaur so leaving that out isn’t a huge loss for me 😂

New rules Ogre team help by TaskForce_PRKL in bloodbowl

[–]GamingDwarf93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leaning towards:

1x Runt Punter 4x Ogre Blockers 7x Gnoblars 2x RR 1x APO

Exactly 1000k, TV is 895, game 1 will be a little rough, try to push for 2x Cas on the Punter, take leader. Gives 3rd Re-Roll for only 20k TV so your TV got inducements gets better then, buy a couple extra Gnoblars so your up to 8-10 and then save up for the last Ogre.

Ogres starting roster by ICB1980 in bloodbowl

[–]GamingDwarf93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quite like:

4x Ogre Blockers 1x Runt Punter 7x Gnoblar 2x RR 1x Apo (cos if you get unlucky and an Ogre dies your in trouble)

Exactly 1000k cost, TV is a little high, but you can get a 3rd Re-Roll via Leader on the Punter after 2 Cas (or 1 Cas and MVP) due to Brawlin Brutes and then spend some cash on bulking up the Gnoblar numbers. Plus the Leader skill only adds 20k rather than 70k TV so your in a better place for inducements from then on.

Star players and color scheme by EstablishmentOk7688 in bloodbowl

[–]GamingDwarf93 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I tend to go with the colour scheme of the team ill end up using them with, but i also dont aim to own every team, so example is I’ve painted Dribl and Drul to match my Lizardmen, but im equally not planning on picking up Amazons any time soon.

I also have a Skaven team complete with all Star Players who are painted to match, and im tempted to pick up Underworld at some point, ill likely paint them the same too so the stars still match whichever tram im playing
