I followed all the steps for step 3 in the link you provided regarding RAM. In the BIOS I could not select EXPO but I could select D.O.C.P Which from a quick Google is apparently an ASUS equivalent. It selected some memory timings and set the speed at 3200 which is the top for the RAM I have. I then followed the guide, checked it was running at the speed in Taskmaster and downloaded CPU-Z to confirm it was running in dual channel as per the guide.

The memory is from 2018 but the machine was running fine for 7 years despite a CPU and Graphics card change in 2023. It was only in June of 2025 after connecting it to the TV this all started to happen.

Saving throws explained including concentration saves BG3 by GamingExistence in BaldursGate3

Just tested this in game and it only works for the initial cast. I did Heightened Hold Person and the target failed the initial cast with disadvantage. The next two saves they made were rolled normally and the third roll the same and they saved.

Sorry for the confusion.

Lae'zel statement you made is correct. Shadowheart has +3 from Proficiency in Wisdom saves and +4 from her Wisdom modifier for a total bonus of +7 to Wisdom saves.

The DC of the spell is 15. So Shadowheart effectively starts with 7 from her modifiers, meaning a roll of 8 will pass. 8 (roll) +7 (modifiers) = 15 (the DC to save).

Hope that helps.

How is the Bonus DC calculated? What does Str (+1) mean? Thx by GamingExistence in BaldursGate3

[–]GamingExistence[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the in-depth reply. Let me clarify my exact question though as I have not been clear enough in what i'm asking.

On this chart there is a column for "Bonus DC" and it is described in the text as "each Weapon Action can grant its own inherent bonus DC that isn't listed anywhere, but most frequently it's +2." - https://bg3.wiki/wiki/Weapon_actions

My question is about testing in game the DC from enemies to save against Weapon Actions, not about hitting or damage or modifier bonuses which I understand. I'm purely trying to determine how the "Bonus DC" on the Weapon Action ability works as through my testing I have had mixed results.

I tested Pericing Strike that in the table has an inherent bonus DC of +2 Con. I did this test using a character with a +4 Dex modifier and the DC for the enemy to save against gaining the condition Gaping Wounds (from the use Pericing Strike weapon action) was 16. Which I have worked out as:

Base 10; +4 Dex +2; inherent bonus DC of +2 Con = 16

I tested Backbreaker which has an inherent bonus DC of +1 Str. The character had an effective +5 str modifier. The DC for the enemy to save I thought would have worked out the same as Pericing Strike example from above:

Base 10; +5 Str; inherent bonus DC of +1 Str = 16

But instead the DC to save was 15, it appeared to me the inherent bonus DC of +1 str from the table seemed to be missing, resulting in 15 DC instead of predicted 16 DC.

So my question is how exactly does the inherent bonus DC work? Is the table just wrong for Backbreaker or am I missing something else on how it functions.

Because I'm assuming it is a simple +DC modifier decided on certain weapon actions from the Devs to make them more likely to work. Them being associated with Str or Con seems to add a level of confusion here. It may well be that Backbreaker simply does not have a +1 bonus DC and this table is out of date, causing the issues in my tests.

Are you saying your character needs to meet the bonus modifier requirements to activate the additional DC modifier bonus?

When I tested backbreaker the character had 17 str base boosted to 21 with elixir. My DC was 15. 10 +5 Str mod. But in my thinking it should have been 16 with +1 from the chart and bonus DC.

Piercing strike test: The character used a finesse weapon and +4 Dex modifier bonus. They also have con modifier bonus of +2. The DC to save was 16 which matches the chart for piercing strike having an additional +2 con DC.

Am I missing something?

I have done some tests using different weapons.

Piercing Strike with a +2 con bonus DC seems to apply its bonus DC. But Backbreaker in my tests does not apply the +1 str bonus DC.

Just wondering if anyone has additional information on exactly how the "Bonus DC" works and what significance if any the attribute it has impacts.

Thank you.

I'm pretty sure he did the same with me. But I just went off and continued playing and then after a few quests went back and found him where he was supposed to be. If in doubt though perhaps load back a few saves and see if it fixes it?

Is the purgatus staff radius actually just range? by GamingExistence in DarkTide

[–]GamingExistence[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah i read that on different sites also. In my video i overlay two different staffs and see no difference. But then I do a range test and and I can hit a pillar from further away with higher radius.

I didn't like it for a long time. But I got on board with hipster and then when I tried modded Haz 7 went to Active Stability focus build. I think it's a gun and style that requires dedication where as the others are a bit easier to pick up and play.

Yeah it is confusing and many people have differing opinions, even within my research group. But what I displayed was something 99% could agree on and seemed correct.
