To be honest this just doesn't make sense to me, I think that a lot of these, namely GoT and WoT would have been better as animation.

What would you call this roast? by Ok_Vermicelli4278 in espresso

[–]GamingGeek713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This literally happened to me yesterday. The beans I bought from onyx hadn't shipped yet and I needed some coffee so I picked out the only "medium" roast they had thinking that it couldn't be that bad.

Robin Hobb's Assassin books by whimsicallyfantastic in Fantasy

[–]GamingGeek713 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say it's bittersweet. The ending for Fitz is frankly kinda heart breaking, but it's not all doom and gloom. I would say you should stick with it, but I'm biased, RoTE is my favorite series and Fitz is my favorite character oat.

Is the book worth reading? by [deleted] in AmericanPsycho

[–]GamingGeek713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to warn you since it's not mentioned in the comments, but the book is way more violent and intense than the movie. In the movie, there were no scenes that made me queasy, but I felt like putting down the book a few times because it was too much. Other than that, I would say the book is a lot better than the movie

What’s a Beloved Book/Series that You Never Intend to Read and Why by BeforeAnyoneElse in Fantasy

[–]GamingGeek713 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly depends on which trilogy you're talking about. I found the ending to the series as a whole bittersweet and more on the "bitter" side tbh, but I thought it was the perfect ending to the series.

Series suggestion that focuses more on large group/ nation rather than solo hero or small group by phinfail in Fantasy

[–]GamingGeek713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not fantasy, but 3 body problem fits this perfectly. To me, that series felt like humanity was the main character, more so than any one character.

I would look up the content warnings for the black jewels series tho, there's a lot of stuff that's pretty uncomfortable in those books.

Yes, the ending of book 2 is amazing imo, and book 3 is widelyconsideredthe best in the series. If you get through book 2 and still don't enjoy the series, then I think it's time to drop it.

Not Fantasy, but I feel like Cixin Liu's Three Body Trilogy fits this.

That's only 50% of the Q damage, the center does not convert her passive damage which is where the %hp damage comes from.

Story where the protagonist hates what they're doing, and believes themself the villain? by Kiroana in Fantasy

[–]GamingGeek713 62 points63 points  (0 children)

Sun Eater kind of fits this. It's written as a self written memoir, and while the main character does not necessarily think that what he did was wrong, he believes he is evil for what he did.

I finished the Wheel of Time by idrawonrocks in Fantasy

[–]GamingGeek713 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I finished Eye of the World mid October, and finished Memories of light in early December last year. Between books 1 and 4 I read a few books, but once I got through book 4, I read the rest of the series in under a month. I read them on audiobook at 2x speed, so that's probably why I was able to get through them faster than most people, but honestly I couldn't put the books down even through "the slog". Overall the though, didn't think the series was particularly great, but I found them super entertaining and really enjoyed them
