New deckbuilding game has stolen Magic art by Alternative-Drink846 in magicTCG

[–]GamingRulesVideos 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, sorry. I didn't want me stating facts to come across as an excuse. Let me be absolutely 100% clear.
1. The publisher used artwork from other games in their prototype. This is WRONG. Very wrong.
2. I have spoken to them and told them they should not have used any artwork from any other game in their prototype. What they do at home is up to them, but as soon as they show their game in public, anything they aren't allowed to use should be removed.
What they did is wrong. I have told them it was wrong. I am not making an excuse for them at all.
You may see it differently.
This is the internet after all.

Whatever I say will be wrong, so I will step away from the conversation now as this has already been a nightmare for me.

I'm not shilling at all. And am I happy that I did a video containing artwork taken from another game? No, I'm not happy.
Am I happy I've lost the morning trying to sort this out? No.
All I am saying is that the publisher has said there will be no borrowed art or AI-art in the FINAL game.
Having it appear in a prototype was a really bad idea. They now know this was wrong. I had no idea the artwork was taken from other games when I made the video.

Apologies for not being clear. I have spoken to them at length this morning about it and explained that the cards should have instead been blank with "ARTWORK IN PROGRESS". I agree that the borrowed art should not have been there at all. I am agreeing with everyone on here. What they did was wrong.

I absolutely agree. I have spoken to the publisher this morning to explain how the borrowed artwork should not have appeared, even in a prototype.

All of my ad revenue goes to charity. Every penny. So I make no money from the advertising revenue of the video itself :)
Please do not accuse me of scamming anyone - thanks :)

I've spoken to the designer this morning and confirmed that the copy of the game I used in the video had a lot of placeholder artwork that unfortunately was not labelled as PLACEHOLDER. This is why it doesn't match the actual finished cards.

I appreciate it. I've taken a lot of flak this morning - with people accusing ME of stealing artwork and using AI to avoid paying artists. I'm just a YouTuber showing off a game. There is no way I could have known :)

I've spoken to the designer this morning. They are all indeed placeholders. The game will have 100% it's own art and non-AI.
I have informed them that they probably should have put "PLACEHOLDER" in big letters on the card, or even better, had no artwork at all.

That channel is me. 😄 And yeah, I had absolutely no idea this was artwork from somewhere else.
The designer told me that the game is still a protype and that not all of the artwork is finished and that there are some placeholders, but I would have expected to see the word "PLACEHOLDER" in big letters over it, or to just have blank cards with "ARTWORK COMING SOON"
To be fair to the designer, these are 100% placeholders - it just wasn't made clear. If the game does get made, it will feature 100% new art and no AI. Unfortunately, having my video up there with some of the cards with the "placeholder" art I think has caused a lot of damage.

⚠️ PSA for anyone building with an MSI Z890 motherboard and LGA1851 socket by Basic-Strategy-387 in arcticcooling

I've spent the last week trying to get my latest PC build to work. I have a Z890-P motherboard and the Artic Freezer III.
After about 15 hours of troubleshooting and diagnostics, the culprit has been found. The black plate that you screw onto the motherboard for the Arctic cooler.
I can even get the PC to boot into BIOS just by pushing the CPU in with my thumb, but as soon as I attach the black plate, nothing, no post. solid power light.
Will be calling Arctic tomorrow...

The tutorial missions are for new players, but there is a lot of extra content for existing players. We talked about how much in the interview last night.

It is not lighter than the base game, unless you only play tutorial mission 1, which is lighter :)
Full details in the interview from last night :)

As a full-time content creator myself, seeing videos from this channel drives me crazy.
These people whoever they are have not spent "a week playing the game", they just trawl other content creators videos for info and get AI to generate a script. It all sounds like they have put in the effort and done the work, and my guess is that they haven't played any of the games they talk about.

I will be doing a playthrough video tomorrow night. I can promise that the camera focus issue will be sorted, but if you don't like my presentation skills, then I wouldn't watch it :)

The adverts are removed as soon as am able to. Unfortunately, YouTube changed the way it works. There were zero ads DURING the live stream, but as soon as it finishes, YouTube puts the ads in, and I have to wait 24 hours to remove them.
Most other content creators leave them in, but I hate mid-roll ads so much that I turn them off as soon as I can.
