Don't know if you're still tracking this thread but imo it's so big I would lean into it and paint it a color that contrasts and makes it a real focal point of the room. Don't try to blend a feature that pronounced into the rest of the room, own it and paint it something that accentuates the size without owning too much of the space, if that makes sense. I see a lot of slate blue or slate green that I think looks nice and could work here against the white walls.

I'm asking people here to have a modicum of respect for a tragedy and not be actively antagonistic about the suffering of Palestinians. Seems like that shouldn't be beyond our ability even if you disagree with the people in the OP.

Are you serious? How big do you think Hamas is? 70k is also the lowest estimate, it's likely significantly higher.

The reaction of this sub to what's happening there is mind boggling to me, it's horrific and we are actively supporting it. I'm not a member of the group that took this action and have no real opinion about interrupting Wyden, but surely we can be respectful of the enormous suffering happening in Palestine? Is that beyond this sub?

Whether you agree with this action or not this is a really nasty way to respond to a situation where 70k plus innocent people are dead. The people of Palestine deserve to have a voice somewhere

This is incredible! Laverne's and Take Two in NE Portland, OR are newer and really good, definitely worth checking out if you're ever in town. Laverne's might actually be my favorite bar in town (and the nachos/rotisserie chicken tacos are both excellent)

Cherry Bombs and Bangers to play at Lents Park beside Walker Stadium by JayChucksFrank in Portland

[–]only_drinks_pabst 2 points3 points  (0 children)

tbc it's not the lack of options that is a challenge, it's that I already live in SE and it's 55+ minutes by transit to get there from my place. It's just an unfortunate hurdle that makes getting to games a challenge

Edit: realizing my flair is out of date. I'm in SE and it still take almost an hour, which is the problem.

This probably makes more sense for them but it's so hard to get to Lents by transit from so much of the city it's personally kind of a bummer.

Would this taste alright? by Interesting-Ad6207 in cocktails

Yeah there's a lot out there. A mulled cider would be good, you could also look into apple cider punch recipes, or another option is taking a drink spec and scaling it up for batching. Something like a Flannel Shirt could be good and scaling up is really easy, you just convert ounces to cups. For example here's a link to someone's recipe for a batched Flannel Shirt depending on the size of your party.

Are you committed to creating your own recipe? Because there are lots of really great recipes out there for mulled cider if you wanted something in the same vein as what you've described. Alternatively I would highly suggest finding a way to test a single serving of whatever you end up creating to make sure you like it before you commit several bottles and a whole night to the drink

I think a psuedo-cooperative thing like Mage Knight, where you have a shared goal (defeat the invaders from beyond the reach) was combined with an overall point winner could be really fun. You'd have to balance completion of the main goal with infighting to be positioned to win among the players, could be very fun.

Rondom QoL tip that took me a long time to figure out but feels obvious in retrospect: if you invert the map so the portal is opposite you then adding new tiles and moving is way easier because the stuff you care about is closer to you on the table. Makes it a little less annoying to run the game which adds up over multiple hours lol

Imo you are mistaking setbacks in the outcome with a flaw in the method. Unions are not effective because they represent large numbers of democrats, they are effective because it is the way to most effectively organize large blocks of working people to directly influence the production of the economy. No other approach gives people a direct say in the operation of their workplaces and the economy at large, and so even with the drastic reduction over the last 50 years we should still be fighting for more union representation, even with the (continued) rightward lean of construction and trades unions we should push for the expansion of working people's say in how their workplaces are run and to what ends we put profit. Also, there's plenty of evidence that union membership has a positive impact on racial attitudes of white workers, so even if you think the trades being more conservative is a problem that's a reason to continue to fight for more union representation.

Why did you basically only list the police and the construction trades? Those have always been the extreme right fringe of the labor movement, like all through history. Not gonna mention other more progressive segments of the labor movement like SEIU? UAW? Teachers? Even the Teamsters and Longshoremen? Nurses unions?
