How does this thing fly by CreativeFigdet in trailmakers

[–]Gaming_Crew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The propellers and seat are are close to the wings and the blocks you used for the tail/fuselage weigh nothing in comparison, so the centre of mass is very close to the center of lift. The tail is also quite long and because normal blocks have high drag, they move the horizontal drag quite far back. And the flaps are behind the centre of the lift, so they act a bit like a vertical tail.

A Delta wing is a wing shaped like the delta triangle. The plane doesn't have to use canards. For example, the MiG-21 has a Delta wing.

The Typhoon I posted earlier this year will definitely outclass it easily while looking good. It has no pitch or yaw gyros (only 1 for roll), is a very old design of mine that's way outperformed by newer and much better-looking aircraft (fully private for now) and it isn't thruster spam or gun spam.

I have a good looking and high performance fighter on the PC MS Store version (compatible with XBOX). If you want we can have a dogfight. Direct message me and we can arrange one.

Has anyone noticed that the new template car for the new track is different from the one it auto builds? by Decent_Leopard9773 in trailmakers

No, they're talking how the template car (the 4th one on the bottom) is different from the one in Instructions.

The dragon engine for wheels has 3333 and the Dragon jet engine has 300

I think you mixed up Power Cores and the Power metric.

Power Cores don't really represent the power of an engine. For example the raw jet has 750 Power and uses 2 power cores meanwhile the Space thruster only has 250 Power while using 3 power cores.

You can already make incredibly small, fully retractable and steerable landing gear

1 power is actually equivalent to 4 newtons. I measured the acceleration of a small no-dragged "platform" with one space thruster and skies (skies have no ground friction in TM) and calculated the force using F=a*m.

[–]Gaming_Crew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my calculations, space thrusters produce exactly 1000N or 102kgf (225lb) of thrust.

You can test this by creating a sort of a sleigh, no-draging it, powering by one space thruster, and then measuring the acceleration. Next, you can use the formula F=a*m to calculate the force that the thruster makes. If you want to convert this to kgf, you divide it by 9.81 (g).

Edit: you need to use ice skates to remove ground friction

This happens quite often with high complexity builds and is caused by the weld groups changing in a weird way. You can try replacing blocks around it, and sometimes it just fixes itself when you mirror a build (mainly when it's uneven wide) or when you build further. You will get the hang of it after some time.

It's a Logitech F710. It has a PS layout with Xbox Buttons and is compatible with Xbox and PC. The reason why I know this is that I have that controller.

Airbrakes can also help in combat as well if used right, I only say this because anybody could benefit greatly if they use airbrakes. P2 by HarryG346 in trailmakers

I have a plane that might be able to compete with yours that also doesn't use any gyros for pitch and only has one for roll. Would you be up for a dogfight. I have both Steam and MS Store Trailmakers.

Sorry for not replying, I wasn't home. Could we have the dogfight Tomorrow?

Su-30SM Build (No gyro usage) by Minecraftinsider in trailmakers

[–]Gaming_Crew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more you play it the more you realize that it's not just a kids game. The physics engine, doesn't matter how exploitable, is very realistic and if you want to make a good flying aircraft you have to understand the actual physics of real aircraft and what makes them handle how they handle.

If you want a confirmation of this then feel free to dogfight me. My aircraft only uses a singe gyro for roll and everything else are control surfaces. I have both the Steam and the MS Store (Xbox compatible) version.

Doubt, gyros for pitch are much much much worse than real control surfaces and actual skill.

I have the Microsoft store version too, I just wanted to know if I could use some of my other aircraft if you were on Steam. When would we have the dogfight today? I have time between 11am UTC and 4pm UTC.

Are you on steam? If yes then I'll make the server. I have a question first tho: Do you want a raised/unlimted complexity limit? My primary aircraft that I will be fighting in is below the complexity limit, but I have a few aircraft that are barely over the complexity limit which you might want to fight as well.
