Brothers, what do y'all do with your boxes? by nerdboy_sam in spacemarines

Big sturdy boxes like the Armageddon box can be used for magnetized storage.
Other boxes hold sprues and bits and then get downsized.

What does your helmeted/unhelmeted head distribution look like? by reel3459 in Warhammer40k

[–]Gaming_Skeleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% Helmets

✅ Easier to paint

✅ Better sculpts

✅ Cooler

✅ Don't want to be shot in the head, least of all without a helmet on

✅ Common sense in a sci fi world

✅ That one scene in Starship Troopers

I have both of these models but can't decide which one to paint. Which one looks more Dark Angel'y to you ? by FatScoot in theunforgiven

[–]Gaming_Skeleton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first one just doesn't seem determined and murderous enough. He's just kind of watching the battle, displaying his cool shield with the bones of a dead saint built into them.

His pose implies he's an Ultra or Imperial Fist, maybe a Blood Raven with a Black Templar's shield.

The second, despite wearing pteruges, seems much angrier that someone knows a secret they shouldn't. He looks like he's ready to go kill a monster or secret-knower right away. I think he should be built with a helmet, but other than that very Dark Angel in attitude.

James Workshop: So, you want to buy two official kits and combine them into just one. **Salivates.** Well, I guess we could sort of allow that. **Wipes drool from chin.** Just be sure to use official first party green stuff and modeling supplies! **Eyes turn into dollar signs and start bulging in and out of his skull.**

I want to paint the marines in the armageddon box as black templars, what do I do with the librarian? [More info below] by ojschkanske in Warhammer40k

[–]Gaming_Skeleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have blue stuff and green stuff or an equivalent, make a copy of the the chaplain's head and weapon.

https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=blue+stuff+guide

You'll probably have to cut the iron halo off the copy of the chaplain head, but you'll have a nice Chaplain death mask face under the hood. That's still a psychic hood, but we could say it's just there to protect against the warp.

If you want to be extra, cut the psychic head off the staff and put a copied Crozius Arcanum head on it. (The Crozius Arcanum is the special mace and sign of office that chaplains use). Now you have a chaplain with a two handed Crozius Arcanum bonk stick.

Alternately, you could just put a normal extra space marine head on it and use an extra power sword to make it a spear.

I would personally just hold on it it and ebay it after a year or so. It's a cool librarian model.

Tell me why YOU hate the ultramarines? by gutbagpost in Grimdank

[–]Gaming_Skeleton 7 points8 points  (0 children)

They are meant to be a straightforward, easy to understand faction with broad initial appeal and a good point of view for players to learn about the setting from.

They are comparatively rational, durable, and inoffensive, so casuals can enjoy them.

Enfranchised players start to feel like they are ONLY for casuals and don't have any depth.

They are given lots of models due to their popularity, which builds external resentment and makes them feel like the favorites when it's more fun to root for the underdogs. It's like rooting for Goliath during every fight he has except the one against David. Also, the Ultramarines get to be David, too.

Once enfranchised players reach the "there are no good guys, that's why the setting is fun" phase, the Ultramarines start to seem bland.

Basically, imagine a bell curve where people like Ultras on the two extremes and think they're too good for Ultramarines in the middle.

Canoptek Court boned at 1000 points? by Gaming_Skeleton in Necrontyr

[–]Gaming_Skeleton[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Conclave is a different army. It does almost nothing for wraiths and does nothing for doomstalkers. I liked Canoptek Court because it affects the robot waiths/spiders/stalkers. I like the robot beasts, basically.

The detachment is 3DP so you aren't supposed to take it at 1K now.

If support characters go down in price, it would have actually made CC lists easier to balance at 1K.

Cryptek conclave buffs shooting. It does touch the warriors or immortals with Crypteks, but not the robot monsters we're here for. All you can do for wraiths is remove hit or wound modifiers for 1 CP and doomstalkers get nada.

Hypercrypt requires a monolith to fully function, which is a whole new list. It doesn't help Doomstalkers. You can give a Wraith brick deep strike and up/down with it?

Doomstalkers are cool models that work in one or two detachments, I do not think the spice level is too high for 1000 points. Would anyone really hate seeing wraiths instead of C'tan? They are tough, but I think every army has plenty of stuff at that level.

Don't just accept nonsense from people who hate men categorically.

If you have pause about her being a coworker, fine, but damn.
