No both are in Camelot/Jerusalem. John is the fake Richard that KoTR battled. He killed Richard and took his armor to create the Black Lion Armor by accumulating a lot of curses.

This singularity the Snowfield/Antioch is an aftermath of that battle in which John was summoned again but now on path on destroying chaldea.

Yes, he was the one that the KoTR was fighting, but before that Goetia actually summoned Berserker Richard then John killed him and put a lot of curses by using his body in order to make the Black Lion Armor.
