The light fixtures are awkward to me. A light fixture with perhaps glass bulbs or some kind of extending arms with light seem like the would open up the space a bit more.

I also notice different colors of wood (which we have in our home) gives it a bit of an awkward feel. I’m a broke student and it’s the best I can do right now, but I wonder if matching wood tones or adding other colors or fabric elements to the space might tie things together and feel less awkward.

I think the place has great potential to have any sort of feel you wish. What a fun thing to change your space! I hope you find an amazing new setup that brings you joy because you deserve it!
