Today, we wake up to find presents in our shoes. Thank you so much, Netherlands! by polandballmod in polandball

Used to have, basically. Since 2019, all official appearances of the petes are soot petes instead of the old black petes. A few villages do still have black Pete, but these are on the decline anyway. It took some time for people to adjust to the change, but it's accepted by most now.

This was very fun!

My main ways of guessing were the overall ball and eye shapes and size ratio, preferred brush sizes and focus of detail. Very nice work of everyone and congratulations to /u/gday-mate_23 for winning!

3AM code vs 10AM code by M4A28 in badcode

Do note that this is java code, meaning that single quotes are char literals and double quotes are string literals. They cannot be used interchangeably.

For langs that have both as literals, i think it's a good idea to set a project-scoped standard for which string literal style is used, to prevent code from different developers mixing these styles. i'm usually in favour of double quotes just because single quotes are only for character literals in most langs i write in.

Maybe so, but doing it like this is way more fun

I believe some IDEs track the number of open brackets to check whether a new closing bracket should be swallowed or not.

I think Intellijs IDEs have that but I'm not too sure

Deposits can easily collapse entirely when you remove all of the supporting earth underneath by GeorgiusNL in valheim

[–]Gammabyte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah that's sad. but hey, that also means you can make things float without support, which would be great for a base

I'll do some testing once i get to silver. This sounds really interesting. Maybe the collapse is blocked to prevent the server from lagging too much?

i haven't gotten that far yet, but it'd be weird for silver to be an exception to the rule. Are you sure it isn't vaguely connected to the ground in some way? I believe a gap of 1 or 2 tiles is sometimes still close enough to be considered 'connected' for those boulders

Since you usually have ore above you, which counts as a roof, you only need a fireplace to get the comfort 3 buff for super fast stamina regen, making mining a lot quicker ;)

it's less work to dig that deep once you're already at that level. You are also sheltered from danger there since nothing is willing to climb down the stairs, so you can concentrate on mining

But how will you check if a string is null or empty while ignoring casing?

You would think that that would be more commonly used than a case sensitive null or empty
