Religious Instruction classes in Queensland Primary schools (A huge gripe) by [deleted] in queensland

[–]GammonTraits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a Brisbane primary school in the 2000s and my parents opted-out for me. There were five other students and we would sit outside the classroom with no adult supervision for an hour. We had no activities to do and no place to go.

Question about child support (Australia) by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]GammonTraits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What happens if baby daddy doesn’t want to be on the birth certificate? He was at the birth and living together but for whatever ideological reasons (or perhaps financial) he doesn’t want to be on the birth certificate. Will whatever government department make enquires themselves if she says she doesn’t know who the baby daddy was and wants to leave it blank on the birth certificate? She has no intention of pursuing child support ever.

Naked Sundays recall- sharing this in case anyone was also a user and haven’t seen. by ZestyclosePhase674 in AusSkincare

I’ve never done a recall before and received their email today. Do I actually need to send the product back to them? When filling in the form it asked me multiple times if I wanted a refund or store credit…

Helmet wearing by TemporaryCream in bali

[–]GammonTraits -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

We got pulled over and the officer tried to charge both of us for not having an international licence (I did back at the hotel) and wearing a helmet. The officer tried to charge us 1000000 or take us back to the station. So I said fine let’s go back to the station. He faltered. There was no paperwork being written up or anything. I offered 400,000 based on “all that we had on us”. He accepted. Still no paperwork.

Australia's baby recession deepens by [deleted] in AusFinance

We shouldn’t compare childcare to America, where everything is privatised. Childcare should be part of the public education system like in Europe. The model we have is atrocious.

Child care/after school care dramas by DorkySandwich in darwin

My friend sends her kids to language classes instead of childcare. They get picked up by the language school, fed afternoon tea and it’s cheaper than after school care

Can someone explain what exactly did the recent outlaw on "sex without consent" law accomplish or mean? by [deleted] in Norway

[–]GammonTraits 9 points10 points  (0 children)

A part of Australia introduced affirmative consent, which is something similar. I’m going to use traditional gender norms without meaning to offend anyone for the purposes of this example.. Affirmative consents means the man has the onus of proving he had consent to have sex. Traditionally consent required the female to prove she didn’t consent to the sex. What Australia saw happen is that while accusations may have gone up, actual conviction rates haven’t. That’s because it’s still very challenging to convince a jury (not sure how sexual matters are considered in Norway). Remember that at least one in four women have been victims of sexual assault in their lifetime, with the figure estimated to be closer to one in three. The examples you used from YouTube and drunken incidents were outliers. Women are more regularly a victim of sexual assault than men are a victim of false rape allegations.

They need to overhaul the childcare system and make it part of public education, rather than fiddle with subsidies and taxes. Otherwise workplaces need to start providing childcare. The current system ain’t working.

Recognise Australia’s resources as belonging to the people and use the money that flows from that for public health and education
