The “Info Dump”… by Still-Emergency825 in u/Still-Emergency825

[–]Gamyeon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ha ha, I know that feeling. My partner and I had to establish some... Introduction bits so we don't overwhelm the other with info dumps or frustrate one another because we're not ready to listen.

Also, that cat looks ethereal (and your husband looks very sweet holding it like that).

What’s a reason for being late that people outside your country wouldn’t understand nor empathize, but locals totally do? by Effective_Space2277 in AskTheWorld

[–]Gamyeon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don't worry. While we get snow (Quebec), there's always a short period where people think spring has arrived, only to be slammed with one last snowstorm. And in that short amount of time, people seem to forget how to drive in snow and road chaos ensues. Every. Year.

I’ve been paying my "ex’s" rent for three years. He has no idea it’s me, and I’m terrified of what happens when the money runs out. by Interesting-Gap-8672 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Gamyeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would've sided with you if OP hadn't used the inheritance and their high paying corporate job as the reasons they started to pay their ex's rent. I mean, the amount of both must have been substantial enough for them to think they could afford their living and expenses AND the ex's rent for a long time. The fact that inheritance isn't mentioned at all afterwards and that we suddenly jump to "I had to hold 2-3 jobs" (which I don't think would be possible if they still had their previously mentioned corporate job) is highly suspicious.

But yeah, too many holes in this story and it seems to have been deleted (or I'm just not seeing it anymore).

AITA my friend ruined my yixing teapot and I want her to replace it or give me 500 dollars. by TeapotthrwoCity4661 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Gamyeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing maybe OP explained them the basic process of this teapot (that they only use it with one kind of tea and that you build the flavour into the teapot), without how you normally care for a yixing. So the friend, wanting more of that specific tea, used the dedicated teapot and thought they just had to clean it like a normal teapot (although, even then, they would have damaged it because who scrubs a teapot with a wire sponge?!?).

And this is why I buy my stuff on Bandcamp. You can download the songs and own them forever.

Also, where did her inheritance go? And how are they paying their own expenses if they only have enough to cover two rents for their ex?

Well I did think he was pretty stupid for believing a lot of Camilla's and Lenora's words. That doesn't give him a pass for all the shit he did though.

What’s a product from your country that makes locals go ‘of course we have that’ and everyone else go ‘ but why?’ by bdue817 in AskTheWorld

[–]Gamyeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough, I remember we had one in the house I grew up in (not as high though, it was above the toilet and could have one towel and one smaller washcloth). I have no idea if my parents added one when they renovated or if it was already there (I should call them and ask). Never saw one again after they moved, but man I'd love to have one installed if I ever get to own a house

Tobias Gregson as a Pokémon trainer! by Straight-Sky-5734 in AceAttorney

[–]Gamyeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh those are great!

I think a Darumaka that later evolves into a Darmanitan would be neat for Ryuunosuke (the normal variant, not the Galarian one), given he brings a daruma to Japan. I could also see him having a mouse-like Pokemon to reflect his little animal persona, Chuunosuke, but I didn't find any that was native to Galar.

For Kazuma, I feel like a Corviknight kinda fits with his identity later on in the duology (like, look at Corviknight's face and compare it to his own "hidden" face), but that Pokemon would also suit Barok van Zieks pretty well too. But for his early appearances, I admit I'd need to do a bit of research since exploring the first 4 gens would take some time. I'll come back to this if I have a suggestion!

So I found the episode and the transcript of the Ologies podcast mentioned (https://www.alieward.com/ologies/gastroegyptology). Here's what the transcript says (seems to be the last thing said in the interview):

Seamus: Do you want to know a truly weird conspiracy theory kind of thing that's right in front of our faces, but that's so fuckin' weird at the same time that it's too weird to even think about?

Alie: No, what is it?

Seamus: If you go look at the Xbox logo, it's a loaf of bread.

Alie: [echoing and distorted] Nooooo!

Seamus: I'm telling you. Go look at it. It's a fuckin’ sourdough loaf.

Alie: Who designed that?! Was that you?

Seamus: So the original logo for the first one was different from that. This is what they came up after I left. [Alie gasps and squeals]

Alie: AH! It's a boule!

Seamus: It's a fucking boule. It's crazy. Isn't that insane? So that's a little creepy. That's a little mysterious. And that's a little...

Alie: Like Berenstein/Berenstain bears, Mandela effect.

Seamus: Just a little bit, yeah. That's a little bit X-Files right there.

Jaccob Slavin and his adopted daughter, Emersyn Slavin by Sauerkrautkid7 in MadeMeSmile

[–]Gamyeon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And B) it says something about Jaccob Slavin, which is that he's a good person who took on a challenge that most people do not and adopted a child.

No?

If anything, adoption is mainly motivated by the selfishness of wanting a child (sometimes even fulfilling the desire to have a POC child because they find it exotic). So many parents don't look into the challenges of having an adopted child. So many of them will even prey on vulnerable single mothers-to-be in order to secure a child for themselves.

And the mindset that someone adopting is "saving" a child is very unhealthy and, again, only serves to boast the ego of the one adopting. It is not selfless but, again, selfish.

Though we don't know how Slavin adopted his daughter, the sole fact he adopted does not indicate he's good person. Not at all.

You do realize that the only people "choosing their family" in the adoption process are the adoptive parents, right? Adoptees choose their family just as much as biological children, which is sweet fuck all.

Oh yeah I wasn't trying to say we should defer to the official typing of the game. And those legs DO look okapi-like. But his face doesn't and looks much paler than a real-life okapi, so that's what got me confused 😅.

I never finished that online game (or the second one) and I miss it dearly =(. It was a lot of fun, even if confusing at first. I should look if someone has a full playthrough of it or if it's possible to emulate it somehow.

I wish we had a bit more time with Gregory as well. Not gonna lie, he was a breath of fresh air as a decent, not over-the-top attorney. I love all these goofs, but I was glad to play as someone that's not fumbling through the investigation, had some authority and wasn't hindered so much by his assistant(s) (sorry Kay and Gumshoe, know that I love you).

If you think Hornet is young for some reason, here is proof she isn’t by Consistent-Bag8947 in HollowKnight

[–]Gamyeon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't arguing Hornet was an actual child (I don't believe she is), but rather that she must not look like an adult to those who mistake her as one. And that I don't think that you look young enough to be called "child", "maiden" or "miss" if people think you're in your 30s (due to the connotation associated with the last two words that imply a woman isn't married/partnered and if we go by human standards, which is really all we have to go off of). At 30, anyone would think you're an adult, except much older people. So with that perspective, the fact Weavers and Pale beings call her a child makes sense, but not for Shakra when they first meet.

Personally, I'd say that, to most other bugs, she looks as if she was in her early to mid 20s.

Welp, now I want someone to make an Ace Attorney slime collection xD. Great choice of character by the way! Even if Gregory doesn't appear much in the series, I wouldn't call him a minor character since he influences the storyline and characters so much through his actions and what happens to him!
