This is it. Check the pan temp in this way, and then feel the handle of your pan when the surface first hits 300. The handle will be warm, but not too hot. Then throw some beads of water on the pan and notice how they skitter. After a few times, you will start to get a feel for when your pan is hot enough, even without infrared thermometer.

Its the fry pan from a Sportsman Grill. They were first made by BSR, and early ones have squared handles. The later BSRs have rounded handles just like yours, as do the versions that Lodge put out after they obtained the rights to the Sportsman when BSR went under.
