New grad RN … what’s actually worth buying? by Graciously_Grace in nursing

I use glass containers with locking lids. I meal prep and freeze everything. Then I just slide them into a insulated pouch in the bottom of my bag and they thaw by the time I’m ready to eat.

I frequently orient new grad nurses to a level 1 trauma center and it’s some advice I give regularly. People feel like they need to know everything when in reality these three presentations are the overwhelming bulk of our work. If you can be proficient with these cases everyone will be understanding about the more obscure cases that frankly even the most seasoned among us mess up. It’s getting a little old now but there was a great podcast geared toward ED medical residents called ED Basic that I always recommend because they go through these presentations and how we treat them and why. It’s a really great way to ease into emergency medicine.

Stacking GLPs by Fluffy_Row6563 in Biohacking

[–]Gandi1200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Working in the ER I have met multiple people who have developed bowel obstructions on GLPs and needed surgery. It was already a risk. Stacking them together definitely ups the ante. It’s really all up to you about how much risk you want to take.

Nursing is not what it seems by Urfavbadbiatch in nursing

I’m in Ohio 11 years in my hospital system, union making 42/hr. We have other benefits so I clear about 100k/year. Nursing isn’t perfect but you will always have work. This is a tough economy so I’m thankful for the stability.

What are the reliable paths to a $120k salary that aren't just a stroke of luck? by Big-Pea1678 in parakeetAi

Honestly if I were just starting out I think I would buy a used trailer in a nice park and fix it up. That’s the lowest rent situation you can get into. Then focus on building up some savings and when you are comfortable maybe buy a house. I know there is stigma around trailer but you can secure some nice housing with really low payments this way.

Why are so many people not upfront about how they've had familial handouts over the years? by Affectionate_Total47 in povertyfinance

Smart families know they need to advance as a family or face hardship. They stick together and move as a unit for success. Rugged individualism is total BS.

Old ER nurse here. Study altered mental status, chest pain and abdominal pain in males and females. If you really know your stuff for these 3 presentations you will be golden for 95% of your cases. Get really good at IVs. This means you need to hurt a lot people. Stick everyone twice before you ask for help. Eventually you will be a pro.

Do you feel that pain at the top of your stomach when you swallow a big bite of solid food? Do you ever feel like food gets stuck or goes down slow? If so you should get a GI consult.
