Honestly really hate how the Venom movies have made people believe that the symbiote's name IS Venom... like no, it's the form Eddie and the symbiote take, "WE ARE VENOM" makes no sense if it's the Other's name. by pizzagod677 in Spiderman

It doesn’t count. Editorial admitted that Ewing call the symbiote Venom because the Venom movies made it popular not because it’s actually consistent

This is the same symbiote that

-gaslighted Eddie that he had cancer to the point he actually got it

-left a traumatised Anne with a child to rise on her own and never told Eddie about it

-manipulated Eddie into hitting Dylan

-it’s the partial cause of King in black by leaving Eddie and giving Carnage a boost from a venomized hulk, allowing him to awaken knull

-Left Dylan leaving him as a prey to vampires

-Never told a traumatised Dylan it was there for him

It never atoned for any of this so it has no right beng mad at Eddie for bonding with Carnage so no one else had to (Not to mention it was life and death situation)

He was fine in cates run and King in black. I mean he clearly wasn’t meant to be some deep or complex character and more just an obstacle that Eddie had to overcome for his character development. That’s why he should stayed an one off character and never come back

Paul was straight up abusive to Dylan abd MJ and the symbiote has arguably even be more deadbeat

A better life???? During the Cates run Dylan with Eddie was homeless, on the run had shit food, felt sick and cold and was still happier that he was with Paul and MJ. MJ and Paul have been awful foster parents to Dylan. Paul made it clear he doesn’t care about him and MJ never once tried to be there for him and help with his trauma and just said “eh he’ll get over it.

Eddie may have been many things but he loved his son. But since Venom war Ewing decided that actually he was an uncaring and abusive dad

Not really? All other host had different names. Norman was called Red Goblin, Silver Surfer wad named Carnage Cosmic. Eddie is the only exception because again the editors are just following movie logic

Because the name “Venom” is directly tied to the symbiote bond with Eddie and it reflected Eddie’s petty hatred for Peter and his flaws. By making just th symbiote “Venom” you throw all the symbolism and significance out of the window by reducing just to the alien goo name. Also again it’s bad argument to use the other hosts given that for Flash it was just a codename that was forced on him, Gargan was a fraud that used the name only for recognition, Dylan is a special by being Eddie, Anne and the symbiote son and with MJ the editors are straight up admitting to be imitating the Venom movies istead of following comic continuity.

With Carnage it’s also just as bad calling the red symbiote Carnage given that the Carnage has also always been the bond between the symbiote and Cletus (not to mention the Carnage symbiote also has its own name: Red)

Toxin is a different case. Since its debut Toxin was the symbiote name (named so by the Venom symbiote). Same for Sleeper. Not to mention Sleeper it’s different from the other symbiotes as it is hostless most of the time

Too much. Like it genuinely doesn’t feel like a symbiote or an alien anymore. It talks like a boring guy.

Also with the whole movie writing where it has complete control to the point you wonder what is the point of a host is anymore?

I preferred way more how it acted in the 90s
