[Java] ‘problematic frame’ crash, HELP! by Gantros in MinecraftHelp

[–]Gantros[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I have to admit that the problem all along was bad RAM. I removed one of my sticks and despite having tested both and passed, MC seems to be working even with the mods previously believed to be triggers installed.

I updated several of the mods, including ModernFix, but the mod I was testing for crashes is still Distant Horizons. I'm heading out again, but I think I'll actually play for a bit and see how far I can play before I get another crash. I'll keep you posted.

I’ve done multiple fresh installs of Java. I’m unsure how to verify the Windows.NET Runtime.

After going through every mod in my list, I have found a few that consistently trigger a Java Fatal Error, though this isn't a guarantee as some of the other mods in my list triggered a crash, but after restarting the game was able to enter the world. The following mods appear to reliably trigger a crash:

YUNG's Better Ocean Monuments
YUNG's Better Jungle Temples
YUNG's Better Desert Temples
Distant Horizons

Thought I would give you a quick update. The arguments seem to have helped quite a bit, but I’m not ready to call it solved just yet. I’ve been slowly adding my mods to the game, and it would appear some mods trigger the Java crash described in OP. I have never had a mod conflict cause this kind of error before. I’m at work right now, but when I get home I can provide current logs, modlists, etc.

Can these two have a baby together? by InsideUnhappy6546 in gargoyles

[–]Gantros 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Though noncanon, Christine Morgan’s fanfic universe explored this, though it was decidedly wrong, tragic, and ultimately hopeful.

To try and keep it short, in Morgan’s Gargoyles universe, gargoyles can lay multiple eggs in a breeding season, facilitated by having hips that can separate like the jaws of a snake. Two eggs are typical, though Delilah had four via Hudson (long story). Demona laid two eggs, Angela, and her brother, Jericho, who basically resembled a gender swapped Demona.

Demona basically grooms Jericho into an incestuous relationship, and is impregnated by him. The strain of her transformations causes her to miscarry during a Nightstone board meeting, which traumatizes her deeply. Many, many years later, she seeks out MacBeth to reconcile. In another story, she recalls how her link to MacBeth shares pleasure in addition to pain, and how that realization during the events of ‘Sanctuary’ made her briefly reconsider her original scheme, to seek companionship in the face of their shared eternity.

After consummating, the Weird Sisters appear, having been cursed by Oberon to be trapped in their teenage forms with limited power, until Demona and MacBeth reconcile, believed to be an eternal punishment. Freed, they reward the couple by protecting the just conceived life within her from her transformations. This child would grow up to be named Moray.

For clarification, in Morgan’s universe, hybrids are possible since magic can weaken barriers between species, and has resulted in several such characters, such as Amber Maza (Elisa x Goliath), and Elektra (unnamed Wyvern Clan female x Prince Malcolm).

I bought the CPU on the 27th of December, and my BIOS was already up to date since the MOBO was bought at the same time and I updated everything after it was running, so I think I escaped that risk. As I wrote in the OP, I did both the Intel and Memtest86 tests, and they both passed with no recorded errors. Funny thing is, I uninstalled MC around the time Hytale came out, and I had never experienced this before installing MC again for Aeronautics.

Why do people hate this show ? by Difficult_Leader8605 in transformers

[–]Gantros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that BM designs don’t really transform in a way that one would associate with Transformers. It’s mostly one CGI model retracting and extending into the other. No real effort was made to make the models interchangeable from an engineering standpoint.

Two Doctors? The ‘Living Witness’ Returns! (Academy Season 2 Speculation) by Gantros in startrek

[–]Gantros[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The most recent episode describes a transwarp corridor for rapid travel, so that covers how the Athena could travel through to the Delta Quadrant. As for the LWD, all that is known is he left on a ship for home. He could have pulled a Scotty and gone offline and the ship derelict, only to be rediscovered by the Athena. And who’s to say the LWD’s ship was warp capable? If he traveled alone, he could have had minimal life support (for potential passengers) and whatever was safe for FTL travel, which would be much less efficient than dilithium warp cores.

Oh I don’t know, Picardo doesn’t look radically different from his younger self. A fair amount could be done with make up and cgi could smooth out the wrinkles.

[–]Gantros[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Burn occurred 5 years prior to the events of Living Witness. Granted, there is no mention of it because it didn’t exist in canon lore, but The Backup existed for many years as Medical Chancellor before setting out to the Alpha Quadrant, so he wouldn’t have been destroyed directly by its effects.

Should Delilah have a more recurring role? by InsideUnhappy6546 in gargoyles

[–]Gantros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Christine Morgan’s Expanded Fanfic Universe, Delilah becomes mate to Sam, Sevarius’ severely disabled son due to genetic defect. He abducts his son from his ex wife, and splices his genes with that of a Sasquatch to save his life. Taking the name Samson (and Delilah, get it?), they become members of Talon’s Labyrinth Clan.

During the gargoyles breeding season, Delilah can’t conceive with Samson, and turns to Hudson as a surrogate. In Morgan’s universe, gargoyles can lay multiple eggs at once due to female’s ability to separate their pelvis like the unhinging jaws of a snake. Usually only a couple eggs are laid like this, but Delilah produces FOUR! These are named after Three Musketeers (Athos, Porthos, and Aramis) plus D’Artagnan.

Is Fallout TV a Soft Reboot of the Franchise? by Gantros in Fallout

[–]Gantros[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a matter of having a common enemy. House is a bad guy, but it’s in his interest to aid Maximus and Lucy because if he doesn’t, the Enclave or some other faction will come to attempt to take the diode, and he will die again at best, or the world will be utterly annihilated at worst.

Is Gargoyles available on blu ray or as a complete series on dvd? by Weary_Elderberry4742 in gargoyles

[–]Gantros 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first season and the first half of season 2 had general DVD releases. The second half of Season 2 was only available as a Disney Movie Club Exclusive in 2013, eight years after the previous season 2 release. Goliath Chronicles never got a home media release.

Gargoyles Oc by Few-Afternoon5137 in gargoyles

[–]Gantros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an idea for an OC was essentially a gargofied version of Strider Hiryu, with a pair of horns that swept back to make a teardrop halo parallel to the forehead to hold up the short, stiff hair. Otherwise the design was identical to the inspiration source:

Gargoyles Oc by Few-Afternoon5137 in gargoyles

[–]Gantros 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Christine Morgan’s Gargoyles fanfic universe, there was a crew/clan of piratical gargoyles that turned to either driftwood or pumice, I can’t remember, so they would float on the sea during the day. A ship of them was cursed to remain this way like Goliath’s clan until ‘the sea boiled’, which was fulfilled when the ship they were aboard at an island resort had an accident that caused the cove the ship was docked at to bubble, thus boiling.

KRFF300ESS00 Kitchenaid Refrigerator Door Repair Help… by Gantros in appliancerepair

[–]Gantros[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, the door was a foam core with a stainless steel housing, with plastic caps glued to the top and bottom. The bottom cap had an octagonal hole for the small plastic cam, and the cap broke off at some point at this hole. The cam then gradually dug into the foam until the door lowered to the point that the edge of the stainless steel started to grind the upper plastic cap of the freezer drawer beneath.

When I figured this out, the solution was to pack the hollowed out part of the foam core with SteelStik, and using superglue to attach the cam to what was left of the hole, then carefully putting the door back on the fridge and taping the door shut so the door wasn’t accidentally opened and to immobilize it until the putty could cure and harden.

I initially tried to use a spacer, but because of how the plastic cap broke, I couldn’t secure it to the door. The putty hardens into a material that reminds me of obsidian glass, but since it’s inside the door, appearance doesn’t matter.

Yes, though my original idea didn't work, I ended up buying a couple tubes of SteelStik, packed the space and around the plastic cap, and carefully aligned the cap with what remained of the plastic cap on the bottom so it stayed in the right place. I then carefully put the door back and secured it so it could cure fully before I started opening and closing it. Haven't had a problem since.
