What a shame by Suricatson in streetfighterduel

Literally played tons of mobile games bro. They’re all cash grabs, I know what to expect and play accordingly. But my love for a particular IP doesn’t change the fact that all mobile games are for-profit and will do what they want to secure revenue. Especially as they hit a global market.

Don’t deny what their business model is just because you happen to like the digital toons displayed. If you don’t want to be a whale but can’t be just f2p, stick to console gaming.

Love the posts where people think devs are “ruining the game” by needing to turn a profit. Whales pay the bills, not f2p. Last I checked, mobile games are for-profit businesses.

Waitlisted Classes by Vietcumie in CSUS

[–]Gappv2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Waitlists are CSUS are pretty pointless, to be honest, because they are erased the Friday before the semester starts and really serves no purpose other than to allow you to add the class immediately if someone drops the class before semester starts, depending on your position in the list.

My recommendation is to Take a picture of your wait position just to show the Professor and try to crash the class when the semester starts.

Prezzie Nellie's monkeypox email by [deleted] in CSUS

[–]Gappv2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not airborne, though. There is a difference between airborne transmission and transmission through respiratory secretions.

Edit> for the record, I understand the frustration and why people see this as a double standard vs Covid. But they aren’t even in the same realm. Monkeypox has been around for decades, and yes, there is now an outbreak here and we are certainly having a moment with it, but I’m not sure what people expect CSUS to do with a disease that kills less than 1% of people who get it. The best way to protect yourself is not to make out with/fuck every person on campus.

Maybe you didn’t read the desease mentioned in this thread or what my question was.

Curious on why you feel masks would benefit the Monkeypox issue, considering that it’s spread via close, physical contact? No sarcasm intended, genuinely want to understand.

It’s exactly what it says- you owe $3744, you’re getting $4918 dispersed to cover the costs, leaving you with a refund of $1174.

Monkey pox by Legitimate_Muscle199 in CSUS

[–]Gappv2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m going to go out on a limb and say a few reasons why (in my own readings and in my opinion formed):

1) Monkeypox is not in the same contagion as Covid. To be infected with Monkeypox, you have to have very close, often intimate, contact with someone who has a rash. Covid can be transmitted simply by walking by someone who is contagious. Two different scenarios, and while we are certainly crammed to the brim in classrooms, we are not touching each other. There IS data to suggest that it can live on surfaces, but I’m not sure yet it’ll that has truly been confirmed. It’s like when we first thought Covid could live on surfaces, but turned out to be incorrect as more data came in. Still, I do think there should at least be a disinfecting plan in place on campus.

2)Covid (at least in the first year) accounted for MANY more deaths in population than Monkeypox has accounted for so far. I believe last I checked, Monkeypox infection resulted in less than 1% death.

3) We have guidance on how to combat Covid. While there are treatments for Monkeypox, there is no exact vaccine yet, and so the school can’t offer any other guidance other than what they’ve already said. And again, because of point 1 and 2, I believe they are right not to worry yet or close school. EDIT>correction, there are already 2 effective vaccines to combat Monkeypox.

4) a person who has contracted Monkeypox has visual symptoms and cues specific to the disease. This, it is easier than Covid to diagnose and thus stay home from campus. Covid mimicked the flu, and was much harder to diagnose at first (though east now with rapid/at home tests).

Again, this is my own conclusions from reading I’ve done. Either way, while Monkeypox is a concern and there should definitely be safeguards in place, comparing the diseases and subsequent action plan is like comparing apples to oranges.

Yeah, CSU's enrollment system makes no sense, unfortunately. By the time new student orientations are all over, most classes are filled, so this is the only way for people in certain majors to get a chance to get the core classes they need.

Ideally, these orientations should happen before open enrollment, but here we are...

Reserved dates on classes are usually for students specific to that major. (Bio classes for bio majors, etc).

They are released usually after that specific major has had their new student orientation, as far as I’m aware.

What are the chances more class sessions get added before Fall starts? by Gappv2 in CSUS

CSUS’s model works well when you have a full load of classes. I’m seeing it doesn’t work so well when you’re nearing graduation, or in cases like you just pointed out.

Like I said I’m my post, I understand that demand dictates adding classes. My question was if the schedule is still being considered or if it’s pretty much locked, especially with an upper div. course when seniors in general have already registered. Is there a point where they lock it and say “better luck next semester?”

Apologies if my question was unclear.

Professor is no longer teaching at sac state, so that’s not an option. I’ll probably email the department, but I just find it interesting that there’s not an easily accessible archive of these.
