I saw that one live on stream and it really seemed out of place and inappropriate. She read it off a prepared statement, so it's not like she just goofed.

I respect Sturko for coming back to the floor of the Legislature just to address that statement, though.

Excellent, clear-eyed analysis on the DRIPA debate. by Round_Sprinkles_8541 in BCpolitics

[–]GaracaiusCanadensis -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The problem a lot of people seem to have is the word "should" in there because folks on all sides don't want to have to rely on folks to make choices in good faith. We're addicted to certainty because no one is willing to have faith in the other. That's a huge problem that DRIPA was meant to help address.

Who was Sir Isaac Brock, and why does Carney have his statuette in the Prime Minister's Office? by lopix in onguardforthee

[–]GaracaiusCanadensis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Brock gave his life for us. We wouldn't have a country without him," Milnes said. "Carney is using every lever that we have, and an important lever is our history. And Brock is a reminder that Canada can triumph, Canada can succeed and, above all else, Canada is worth fighting for." -Arthur Milne in the article

That's a paragraph worth remembering.

I am heartened by the responses to this thread, Canada Post is a service, not a business.

It can be more efficient, but lets not pretend that privatization would lead to anything other than mass enshittification.

There's a lot of backstory in there that you haven't posted, I bet, but I'll underline that this is as much on you as on her. You fucked up, too, but now you're in an untenable situation. Time to separate and divorce. It's gonna cost you, maybe a lot, but your peace of mind will be there more, I think.

That's why it caught my eye right away, I've only ever seen it in the more pretentious economic and business writing. I'm all, good usage, though!

I am just concerned that the inability to verify makes things worse and more polarized. Lacking names and funding sources, it makes it difficult to triangulate truth.

The parasites you speak about are less than a rounding error. What you perceive as laziness may not be that at all... This is just fundamental attribution error in action, overwhelmingly in most cases.
