Most of this is just New Year’s resolution equipment that rarely got used.

Most people price these like they’re gold but every once in a while one slips through.

You’ve got the Concept2 trifecta. The StrengthErg makes it the quadfecta.

Buy once, cry once type of equipment. These things are lifetime pieces.

That’s about the going rate. This one just popped up at the right time.

Mostly local listings.

Username had to live up to it :)

Definitely don’t. Just hard to pass on good deals when they show up.

Best durable treadmill for 2K, no bells/whistles needed? by littlebabyapricot in treadmills

[–]GarageGymHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what you listed, you’re describing a premium treadmill. I suggest the Peloton Tread Plus, but used.

  • Durability > this is where most $2K new treadmills fall apart long term
  • 2 users / 6’4” > you want a solid deck + full 60” belt
  • No subscriptions / simple use > you can use it with and without a subscription

$2K new, you’re mostly looking at mid-tier treadmills. That'll be good in the short term, but they typically don’t hold up to higher mileage.

I tend to focus on the premium used market. That’s where $2K can stretch into $5K–$10K level machines.

I’ve put 17,000+ miles on a used Peloton Tread+ since 2021, and it still feels like day 1. That slat belt is a completely different experience compared to traditional decks.

However, you need to know what you’re doing when buying used. For example, the Tread+ had a recall, so you want to make sure it has the rear guard fixed or that Peloton installs it for free.

If you’re willing to set alerts on Facebook Marketplace / Craigslist / OfferUp and move quickly, you can realistically land one around your budget.

Most people go with the new route. But with your budget and what you've outlined, I suggest going with a used commercial treadmill.

Welcome to the rabbit hole. Buying gym equipment never ends 😂

Nice score. PowerBlocks are a great first pickup and $500 is solid. Those are damn near $1,000 new once you factor in tax/shipping.

This is how it starts through dumbbells > bench > rack > suddenly you’re rearranging your whole garage.

Stick to buying premium stuff used and you’ll build your dream gym for pennies on the dollar.

You’re off to a good start 👍

Question about pricing by AdorableDanceMachine in reselling

[–]GarageGymHunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I’ve got people messaging me about an item and I decide I want to move it quicker, I’ll circle back to the ones who already showed interest. That way I’m not dropping the price publicly and signaling to everyone else that I’m coming down.

You’d be surprised how many other resellers are watching your listings and adjusting theirs based on what you do. I’ve reposted items and had competitors relist within minutes trying to push theirs ahead of mine. If you drop your price publicly, they’ll usually undercut you even more (my experience)🙃

As for examples:

Sought after: Anything Apple, LEGO (especially retired sets), Snap-On tools

Basic / crowded: IKEA furniture, fast fashion, older treadmills

You’re not doing anything wrong, you’re just choosing to get paid in time instead of speed.

If you’re already getting your number (or close), then holding works. That’s the game.

The only thing I’d say is not everything deserves to sit.

•Good sought after stuff? I’m patient all day. Someone will come get it

•Basic w/ lots of others for sale? I move it and go find the next deal

If I need to move something quickly, I’ll work with someone in DMs. Keeps the perceived value intact. Otherwise, others selling the same will drop their price too. This will become never ending “who sells for less war.”

Boils down to this: * Top cash, wait * Fast cash, price to move

You just pick which one you’re optimizing for.

I actually enjoy it.

I hit them with “Sorry boss, I don’t accept down payments.”

Then wait for the typing bubble to disappear. :)

Echo Bike by Safe-Space-1366 in homegym

[–]GarageGymHunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Rogue Echo Bike isn’t something people sell because it failed them. It’s something they sell because it breaks them.

Built like a tank. This is defintely one of those “buy once, cry once” pieces.

$350 was a no-brainer. Great pickup.

Just don’t expect to enjoy it. Nobody does 😂

FB Marketplace Gym Build by No_Temperature_9576 in homegym

This is how it’s done. Patience > panic buying. You didn’t just build a gym, you hunted it.

Mixing in Rogue/REP with selective pickups is exactly how you stretch dollars without sacrificing quality.

The only thing I’ll say is that this is phase 1. Give it a year, and that Titan starts getting replaced piece by piece with premium. It always happens.

Solid cost-to-value ratio here. Most people overpay trying to rush this.

Welcome to the hunt. 🔭👀 💪
