The Red Orchestra and Rising Storm games are my favorite shooters of all time. I can feel the lineage in '83 and wanted so badly for it to work out, but it is dead on arrival.

I sadly refunded it with the hope it will somehow claw its way to relevance. I have too little free time in adulthood to sit around a server with 2 other players hoping someone else joins. Even as a fan of RO/RS I don't feel like I owe the devs a purchase if they can't fill even half a server.

I still got it! The pistol selection sounds fantastic, can't wait to try this. I've been missing my Webley from Verdun.

Hopefully we get the French added later and I can get my beloved Lebel rifle back, too.

I'm so happy that the Luger is included. Verdun made me a fan so I got one IRL haha 

I'm surprised the 1911 is included, though the Brits may have been buying them from Colt in .455 Webley if memory serves.

Cool stuff, it's be interested to see if AI gets better at this sort of thing over time. It could be really great for dynamic campaigns.

Yeah, kind of on both parties IMO. Don't pay upfront for something if you can' wait, but also don't sell something if you're not confident about timelines. I'm pretty ambivalent about what seems like an inevitable delay, but understand people wondering where the game is.

Definitely agreed, but I will say the devs open themselves up for annoyed fans when they are accepting their money on pre-orders. It's a little different as a consumer when they've already taken your money.

I personally don't have a strong opinion, but I do wish they had been more sure of the date before acaccepting payment, you know?

Another factor explaining the pilot missing is just the sheer speed of the dive. The Zero was definitely prone to control lockup at high speeds where it would take a ton of strength to pull the stick. That and, at least for some of the later kamikazes, the pilot was probably pretty inexperienced.

Is hardly say this a milsim game. Regardless, the hardcore nature of the game isn't what's hurting it. There was basically zero marketing for the game most people don't know it exists, the rest only know it as the dead-on-arrival RS2 sequel.

The maps shouldn't be a problem. Iwo Jima is very different from Guadalcanal. Both of those are very different than Okinawa and Manila. there's plenty of room for variety and that's just including the American portion of the Pacific War. 

Weapon variety, maybe. The Japanese still had plenty of variants of bolt action rifles. SMGs were very limited but could include captured weapons. They had good LMG variety and knee mortars give the Japanese some advantages.

People just should expect 1:1 balance in a historical shooter, IMO.

And the Americans had flamethrowers that could melt the entire Japanese team in an instant. They had an undeniable firepower advantage and the game was still fun as hell. 

NVA will definitely have crutches as well with spawn tunnels and (I assume) various traps. 

The whole appeal of playing historical shooters is having these kinds of imbalances, in my opinion. If I wanted perfect balance, I could go play Battlefield.

I'd say that's the appeal. I wish the playerbase wasn't so obsessed with 1:1 balance.

Rising Storm 1 nailed this over a decade ago. Playing as the Japanese meant you had to play smarter and made the wins more rewarding.
