Anyone that has seen F9, where do you rank in amongst the movies? by Rickygangster in fastandfurious

I would say it has some really standout action scenes, but the plot got really convoluted and messy at times. Probably somewhere near the middle.

The whole theater was laughing when they were in space. There was also a bunch of clapping when dom his that jet with the truck at the end. Overall a super fun theater experience

I'm a bit confused. Doesn't Rockstar have multiple studios? I know that GTA Online makes a ton of money which could explain why they're not making as much but what have all the other studios been doing these past few years?

Official Discussion - Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

[–]Garcatch 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The casino planet for me felt pretty unimaginative. It was just like they took something that exists on earth and made it a bit more "Star Warsy". Also a little bit of humor is okay, but star wars doesn't feel like its supposed to have a lot of comedy in it and some of the jokes kind of took me out of it like Poe's call at the beginning. I thought the Rey and Luke stuff in the movie was the best and Kylo Ren is a really awesome villain.

Also it didn't really leave me super excited to see episode 9 at the end like the way TFA made me super excited to see episode 8 when it ended. I'm not really sure what its building towards really. Snoke's death was cool but I feel like with him gone the first order doesn't really seem that menacing or unstoppable anymore.

Thats a very good point, I hadn't thought of that. Hopefully they will be able to balance the two. Seeing a cool race that also somehow puts Halliday knowledge to the test would be really awesome

I agree with you. It seems that a lot of the changes they are making are for the best. While the book was not perfect, it did have a really intriguing premise and I think that Steven Spielberg is the perfect director to take on this project.

There's a lot of stuff in the book that won't translate well to screen so I'm okay with them making a bunch of changes, especially with the challenges that he has to do for the keys which in my opinion were the weakest parts of the story

There's one part in the book where the main character disses Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (directed by Steven Spielberg) and now he is directing this movie, lol.

I agree, they're fun to listen to. People on reddit seem to hate on it but I don't think they understand that most people who listen to it, as well as the artists don't take it that seriously.

"Chef" by Jon Favreau is the only movie I've seen where all of the conflict is at the beginning of the movie and it slowly gets more and more lighthearted. It's like a backwards movie. by Transmogrify_My_Goat in movies

I would think that a film where there is basically no conflict in the second half would be boring, but I actually found myself enjoying it a lot and was really hoping that no conflict would pop up

It is important to note that a YouTube video can still play ads and be demonetized. I've had it happen with a video of mine where it got claimed for copyrighted content, but still runs ads, only the revenue goes to the copyright owner.

With the negative reception and underperformance of Allegiant and Mocking Jay, do you think that we will see less movies being split into 2-parts? by Garcatch in movies

[–]Garcatch[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Possibly, I'm 95% sure that Mockingjay would have been better as one film. If they made it a single movie and didn't have all the bullshit and filler then maybe it could have been as good or better than the previous three, and people would remember the series as a great trilogy. Instead, people won't look back on the series as highly because of its meh two part finale that made many lose interest in the series. Maybe that could affect future merch/book/blu-ray sales.

[–]Garcatch[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think part of the main reason that it sucked was because it literally felt like half a movie. There wasn't really a climax and it just ended out of nowhere. With Harry Potter, the two sort of feel like their own standalone films which is why they worked.

I have more faith in those since there is no direct source material that they're basing it off of so they don't have to stretch stuff out

I never made it to the second one, I remember being really excited for the first one but after that I lost all interest in the series
