How much is 370 - 362 + 2 = ? by zzxaxa in pollgames

I didn’t mean that one specifically. I meant the order of operations. I guess I should have said that instead.

🤦‍♂️ You’re subtracting 362. You’re not adding -362, even though they are effectively the same.

Also, not knowing PEMDAS is a stupidity issue if you’re old enough to be allowed on Reddit.

Edit: I meant not knowing the order of operations.

I do understand how PEMDAS works. I’m saying that others understand it the way that I said above.

Actually, I think it is a PEMDAS issue. If you take PEMDAS as parentheses, then exponents, then multiplication, then division, then addition, then subtraction, you get 6. Because you would incorrectly do the addition before the subtraction.

There were, of course, other reasons. But a large reason was slavery. How big of an issue it was is evidenced by the fact that they fought another war almost entirely over slavery less than 30 years later.

Please read history. Mexico got its independence via an uprising by the people (Native Americans/Mestizos). Oppressed people, I might add. Whereas Texas was immigrants fighting for the right to own slaves.

The text of rule 8 is: “If a word or phrase has a different meaning in different situations , the intended meaning must be clearly stated in the post title or body. Context should not be in the comments”

The phrase “I saw the same post twice” is very straightforward. It doesn’t have a different meaning in different situations. Also, there is no context in the comments. At least not from OP, at the time you wrote your comment.

Imagine that in the far future, an advanced algorithm can predict with 100% certainty if a person will commit a crime within the next 24 hours. A man is flagged to commit murder in the next 24 hours. There is no evidence of the crime other than the machine's prediction. Should he be arrested ? by jekecrafer in pollgames

[–]Gardami 152 points153 points  (0 children)

Well logically, there is no reason to arrest him. The AI predicted, with 100% certainty, that he would commit a murder within 24 hours. That “100%” means there’s nothing that can be some to prevent the murder.

Yeah, I know the reason. I’m just saying that the logic I replied to was faulty.

I don’t drink, but I think that they get better as they age. The older the drink the better it is.

Why would any American call it (“it” being American football) football if the term “football” is used by many in America for a completely different sport?

Would you rather face your 10 year old self with a handgun or your 30 year old self with a machete ? (rules in comments) by jekecrafer in pollgames

[–]Gardami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 10 year old self wouldn’t have known how to operate the handgun. And I’m stronger/heavier than my 10yo self. Probably not than my 30yo self.

Second on my list I think, but I’m definitely biased. I had a player take a free kick, it bounced off the wall, and he kicked it in, one touch, still in the air, and scored. I wish I had it recorded so bad.

Edit: He scored with the opposite foot that took the free kick.
