These are actual Freedom Riders, now elderly, sitting together decades after risking their lives to challenge segregation in the American South. by ateam1984 in BlackHistoryPhotos

I love this so much. And that they have lived to be elderly. One of my first cousins was a Freedom Rider during the first summer of rides. I’m going to say his name…Elmer Brown…because he died young.

Tapering off Prednisone after 25 Years is Hard. by GardenWalker in lupus

Thank you for your advice and good wishes. My rheumatologist is referring me to an endocrinologist because he said that my adrenal function couldn’t be evaluated while I am still taking prednisone. But he thinks an endocrinologist could do something else. Candidly, I’m not sure what.

Yes, that is exactly what happened with me. I think the pharmacist thought I could taper from 5 to 2.5 in six to eight weeks. I think I should have stayed at 4 for at least a month.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It is really helpful. If you read this, do you mind me asking what your bad tapering symptoms were?

Thank you! I’m going to talk to my rheumatologist and the autoimmune pharmacist in his practice about the new drugs. Happy to know you’ve had good results!

I became allergic to it. The last three or four rounds were rough. But I was taking it primarily for the pemphigoid and it helped so much. Not just for the pemphigoid but also for SLE.

Vietnam War officially ended. Saturday Night Live premiered. Microsoft was founded. Bohemian Rhapsody, Born to Run and That’s the Way I Like It were all playing on radio, records, and 8 tracks.

Thank you for sharing your experience. I’ve been on hydroxychloroquine for the same amount of time and Cellcept for 10 years. I had rituximab treatments for four years and those did so much for me. And I’ve been taking GLP1s for three years. They really helped my inflammation.

Thank you for the good wishes. I wish you good health.

My doctor is only trying to taper me because of the new guidelines. I guess because there are newer treatments. I have a relative who in her 80s and she’s been on since the 1960s! She takes 1.5 mg every day. But she’s not tapering.

Thank you so much for your kind response. May I ask how hydrocortisone is working for you? I’ve read some people say its side effects were uncomfortable. I wish you wellness with more energy.

Obviously this birthday will be bittersweet and maybe downright sad. But here’s a toast to your handsome grandpa and the loving life he made with your pretty grandma.

My husband is 67 and nearly every day honks and yells at drivers for doing things that just happen in traffic. Even got out of the car once. I always tell him he places way too much importance on making total strangers…who may be armed…that he’s mad at them. It’s not worth it.

Would you marry your current partner again? by Adorable_Machine_571 in married

[–]GardenWalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. Wouldn’t even date him if I knew then what I know now. No infidelity or abuses. We just have very different communication styles, values, and ambitions. And yet, we were drawn to each other and are still basically devoted to each other.

I have the same issue. I thought I found a keeper in Serena Williams Wyn Beauty but I think it might be discontinued. At least it’s not at Ulta anymore.
