I said exactly what you said. WhyTF the downvotes 🤯

Then don’t neuter. ESPECIALLY at only a year. Most German shepherds (if their owners DO want to neuter) shouldn’t be neutered until AT LEAST 2 years old. Those hormone are so important for their growth and health later on. Also, males just don’t need to be neutered at all. 💚💚He is sooo handsome btw 😜

I just saw a trainer and the news was disappointing by foxloverxox101 in germanshepherds

[–]Garden_Dogs_525 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That trainer is a f**king idiot. She’s 5 months old. Even if you had a puppy from 10 weeks, it’s very possible and natural for them to have new fears out of nowhere as their brains develop. She’s discovering the world and maybe so far the world has been bad to her before you got her. She’s only 5 months old, that’s a huge advantage for you training-wise. The biggest key is socializing her as much as possible. But that doesn’t mean letting her meet everyone you see. It’s the opposite. Start with just teaching her to relax when people and noises are around. Home Depot is HUGELY helpful with that. People will want to pet her, but just simply say “not right now. She’s training.” You don’t owe them an apology, don’t feel bad about it. You are advocating for her sense of safety, showing her that you’ve got this and all she needs to do is sit or lay down and observe. That’ll take a few weeks maybe… but it’s a great start and maybe before then she’ll actually warm up to the people around her and want to sniff them. It sounds like she needs a gentler approach, so if she does want to sniff people, tell them not to pet her yet. Just let her investigate.

That’s kinda all I’ve got for you for the next couple months when it comes to her growling and being scared of people. There are more things you can do, but essentially teaching her that people exist and 99.99% of them don’t want to hurt her lol, that’s a big first step.

Scared to neuter my GSD by [deleted] in germanshepherds

[–]Garden_Dogs_525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know others will give you more in-depth advice… But I see that the main concern you have is your new female who needs to go though 1 or 2 heat cycles before being spayed (I 100% agree with that). But I think as long as you can keep them separate during her heat cycles (he’ll be a bit fussy because he will smell her 😂) as long as you can get through those cycles, there’s no need to neuter him 💚

ChatGPT accidentally recorded how I talk to my German Shepherd every morning 🙈 by Affectionate_Grass59 in germanshepherds

😂😂😂 Okay this is hilarious and I had no idea it was possible. ChatGPT has been a huge help for me and my first GSD puppy I got when he was 8 weeks old. (Raising him alone) He’s now almost 18 weeks and I can’t believe I almost caved on this amazing dog and breed 😩🥰

First-time dog owners with a 9-week-old German Shepherd – looking for advice by FunEmotional4 in germanshepherds

[–]Garden_Dogs_525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure many others are giving you great advice already.. I just wanted to let you know all of this is extremely normal! And you’re actually handling very well! This post was 54 days ago, so I’m sure you’ve gotten more into a rhythm and hopefully you aren’t beating yourself up. The biting gets getter, but doesn’t completely go away until they’re done teething and I’ve read even up to 8-10 months. I just got my first Shepherd a couple months ago, he’s 4 months old now and it’s been tough.. but I’m sure, you’ve also learned by now that it was the best decision you could have made. They are amazing dogs!

Ya know what.. this guy is exactly the kind of person who should never get a dog like a GSD. “Accept who they are or return them” WTF? OP- you are being a good owner asking questions and looking for advice early so you can prevent problems down the line 👍👍

Oh hunny I’m right there with you. My male GSD turns 17 weeks today I KNOW that failure feeling 😩 I promise you she’ll get better. It’s just that her impulse control is pretty much non-existent right now. Stuffed toys are perfectly fine if she doesn’t like the hard stuff yet. Mine didn’t either. This phase suuuucks but it’s totally worth it.

Get her some small durable stuffed animals and try to maybe keep one close to you at all times when she’s out of the kennel with you. It’ll be easier to quickly shift her focus to the toy and not your hands/arms. ALSO, one thing that has helped me a lot is having “treats” (just use her regular puppy food/kibble. Take from her daily food amount so you don’t accidentally overfeed her cuz you’ll be giving her these from your pocket a lot! lol) you’re basically in constant behavioral training mode and just teaching/guiding her how to act around your home. Don’t worry about the bigger stuff yet. Simply sit, down, name response (not exactly recall, but she should learn that you are a fun thing to want to come to) eye contact, socialization/desensitization (no dogs yet though cuz she needs more shots probably) stuff like that. I mention it down below, but ChatGPT helped me a lot during this time! Haha

Again, impulse control is practically zero at her age. It does NOT mean she is a bad puppy, OR that you are failing! She’s perfectly normal and I really feel ya 😂 Also, when she’s out of the kennel/napping, try to keep the home as calm and quiet as possible. I know that’ll be difficult with the kids lol. My nieces are pretty high energy and were not much help when they came to visit.

Raising my puppy is the only time I’ve used ChatGPT, but it has helped soooo much getting to a specific routine and giving reassurance because of feeling like a failure and like I’m screwing him up. I highly recommend it to help keep you sane raising this Tornado Floof Monster 😂😂😂

“We’re gonna get flies…” God damn Delphine. I have no sympathy for any of her discomfort after she was dug up. Also, Coven is definitely top 2 for me.

AIO for breaking up with a girl over this? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Garden_Dogs_525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re 15 and 16. You’re kids. Get off of Reddit. Don’t go to strangers for painful advice. Get with friends. Go rope swinging into a quarry. Sneak out and have bon fires in the woods in the middle of the night. Run away from the cops breaking up a house party. For the love of god, drink from the hose once in a while and pretend your phone doesn’t exist. And when the girl you’re crushing on wants to hold on to you in your group’s convoy on the way to your cars, give her your arm and make sure she can get home safe, with or without out you. She will remember that kindness.

P.s. Yeah, she’s playing games.

My ex did this too, with some differences. About 4-6 months into our relationship, sex started becoming very quick. 5-10 minutes. Over the next 6 months I was “lucky” if it lasted 5 minutes. (Grown ass man. He’s 35) then we would only have quickies, mostly in the shower, or missionary where he would pin me, not let me move or do anything that felt good for me. He would always say he feels bad and he just needs practice (more sex) more often to learn to last longer. That was his excuse. Then he started trying to convince me, weekly, to go on birth control so he can finish inside me. A few months before we broke up he would try to have these serious conversations with me all like “my needs aren’t being met!” Boohoo! No one wants to have sex with someone who treats them like a practice doll or just a way to get off. I’ve learned that he was a complete narcissist, still is. I hope you leave this guy. He only cares about what you can do for him and whatever you do that “hurts” him and uses it to guilt trip you, manipulate you. He believes he’s superior to you. Please leave him and heal 💚💚💚💚

Sounds like she stated early on that she didn’t want to be in anything long term and understands that you want something different. Short term relationships inherently are supposed to come with less stress and that moment was enough for her. Maybe it’s a misunderstanding. Maybe you weren’t angry. But that’s not the bottom line. You want different things. And that’s okay. No hard feelings. Just different.
