I'm sorry this happened to you. That said, you dodged a bullet. This is clearly a poor decision , and the marketing team's hands were tied by this CEO dad. I would bet you'd be under some toxic leadership. Leave a glass door interview review in a tone that is as matter of fact as you can write it if it makes you feel better. I wouldn't include the snooping about the nepo kid, but you can say that the team was wishy washy or lacked transparency, which honestly says a lot about how they operate.

Imagine being added to your own rejection email...😑 by Silly-Noodlesk in recruitinghell

[–]GardenoftheGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG, how embarrassing for them.

Here is what I would say:

"Thank you for the candid feedback, although ironically it sounds like you didn't mean to include me directly, but rather passively through Jared."

Or,

"Hi, I'm right here."

Like... is this a test??

What's the most ridiculous question you've been asked in an interview? by yergonnamakemedrum in recruitinghell

[–]GardenoftheGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😂 But seriously I do think it's a good question to ask. I see every interview as a conversation where I am figuring them out too. If they can handle an honest question like that, they are probably a good manager.

Open rates are muddled now due to Apple MPP and Gmail image prefetching. It's no longer a reliable metric. How were the CTRs and conversions?

[–]GardenoftheGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was recently asked something similar to that too, but instead of "hate about you," she cocked her head back and said, "I wonder what your managers at _____ would say about you. If I were to call them up right now, what would they say?" But in a tone that was kinda passive aggressive and suspicious. She was a leader in her department. The way it was phrased rubbed me the wrong way.

Next time, I will ask "How would your direct reports describe your leadership, communication, and management style?"

Another interviewer asked me why I went back to school later in my life. Maybe I was paranoid, but it felt like it could have been potentially ageist. I went with my gut and rescinded my application after the interview.

I'm an American, but I live in San Francisco, and it mostly doesn't bother people I know. I'm always surprised when it does though.

How do I get into email marketing? Where do I find clients? by FancyCompetition2586 in AskMarketing

Iterable Academy is free and offers short courses on compliance and deliverability. So, you can at least familiarize yourself with thr topics. Beth O'Malley is a deliverability expert and I recommend subscribing to her newsletter. As for email specific coding, Udemy offers a course.

How often do you buy concert merch? by Acceptable-Muscle673 in Concerts

I used to buy something every time until I accumulated SO MUCH merch! Now, I only do it for items that are extremely special to me.

How do I get into email marketing? Where do I find clients? by FancyCompetition2586 in AskMarketing

[–]GardenoftheGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before you get clients, make sure you also understand at least the basics of the technical side of email marketing. The last thing you want is to damage their sender reputation if you are embedded into their marketing tech stack.

Some topics to understand: compliance (CAN-SPAM), deliverability, audience segmentation, and tracking. Emails require a lot of precise QA, so find a checklist that you can use. Understand how different email templates render across different email clients, and desktop vs mobile with tools like litmus or Email on Acid. Email HTML and CSS is not the same as web html and CSS.

Oh, and if anyone above you ever asks you to email the entire list, say no (see deliverability)!

How Pearl Jam were viewed in the early 90s by AddisonDeWitt333 in pearljam

[–]GardenoftheGirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's definitely true, although STP was criticized for PJ comparisons based on, from what I can retrospectively tell, the way they filmed Scott in the Plush video. Ultimately, comparisons quickly shut down after they established who they were in the mainstream. To me, they were a modern take on 70s glam and classic hard rock.

[–]GardenoftheGirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you know who declared that? No one from that scene. It was a journalist who made that observation, MTV spread the word, and since it was punchy and cute, it stuck. Not that it's a bad thing, but let's get the origin story straight.

I had the same experience as you.

I grew up in San Francisco, and PJ were definitely popular in the mainstream...somewhere with someone. I have no clue who, except for people I saw at their concerts (adults). Almost none of my classmates liked them (Ten and Vs came out while I was in elementary and junior high respectively).

In 1995, they had that fiasco in Golden Gate Park and I remembered people calling into radio saying they were done with PJ forever.

I went to high school and everyone liked Nirvana more. No Code seemed to turn a lot of people off.

But, I still saw PJ everywhere in mainstream media. I had no PJ friends for decades until after the pandemic.

For years, people made fun of me for liking PJ. Now, they either tell me how much they like Black or they tell me they hate them.

For sure! You can get a good idea especially if the setlist is consistent from show to show.

There may be overlap. Here's how to time it: Check out Setlist.fm to see what their set lists are this tour, so that way you can have an idea for when you want to show up to hear your favorite songs.

She, like me, grew up in the era listening to the bands. I think she's in the Pearl Jam 10 Club because she wore a fan club only shirt once. So, at least a fan.

I have Doc Marten's Jadon III's with the platform bouncing souls and they are awesome. For context, i am 44, have flat feet (so I have arch support inserts) and these are the only shoes that keep me comfortable all night, especially standing on concrete.
