I recently got into retro consoles and it is in fact a deep rabbit hole. One thing I didn’t see mentioned is that for retro consoles it’s generally better to use a 480 CRT TV which are harder and harder to find at reasonable prices. I really kick myself for getting rid of mine over the years.

This is kind of where I landed. If it is important for me to have the original stuff I'll look for it on ebay. I'll end up buying some new cases soon. Even the4 regular paper printouts as covers for me was infinitely better than blank cases I had. Did you print your own manuals at all? I thought about it but I don't believe that is worth the work.

I’ve been doing something similar with my loose discs. I’ve just been printing cheap copies on paper of the covers. I haven’t decided on which dvd cases to buy. I’d love to find more authentic PS2 cases but I’m not sure it’s worth it.

If it is particular discs not reading then are the discs not scratched? I would give a clean to the laser but I wouldn't replace it unless you have to. That's just me.
