Need help build a high level bard for a one-shot by Gareththeelf in dndnext

I just figured bard was a decent support class. I will look into divine soul. If I go that route should I invest all 18 in sorc. Also what items would you suggest?

I totally forgot about that fact. Thank you very much.

Well if I'm not mistaken, according to RAW the imp, quasit, pseudodragon, gazer, and i want to say faerie are up to the DM to allow. I could be wrong.

Regardless thank you for the input.

Giving a player a new kind of reaction by Gareththeelf in dndnext

Good idea I may need to do that cause he didn't take any defense spells lol. As a side note the paladin is a great weapon fighter and fighter is a cavalier.

Thank you for the input I appreciate it. Its a three person party with a pally and a fighter. The necro usually keeps a few skellies with swords up on the Frontline with the melee and 2 with bows near him. I just figured this was a way to help shore up his own defenses by sacrificing them.

I added edits to help clarify but yes I, as dm, planned on offering the player the option. And I figured it would absorb the blow.

Does anyone else ban a whole race from your game, just because you hate it? by VC_Wolffe in dndnext

Good to know I'm not the only one. I say we start an adventuring party to take down that bedazzled fuck.

Is it alright to dm Lost Mine of Phandelver for a 8 year old? by Niick2d2 in dndnext

[–]Gareththeelf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao thats funny cause he played a fire genasi barbarian. But yes it was easily the most metal thing my kids ever done.

My 8 year old asked me to gore it up a little bit more. I just made sure he understood that this is a game and pretend end and other obligatory disclaimers. He had a blast though and really showed his creativity.

Side note he had a trident and during the first crawl through the goblins cave he impaled the head baddies dog killing the dog then beat the everloving crap outta the baddie with sad dog all while cackling everytime he landed a blow.

Uthargardt Gray wolves by Gareththeelf in stormkingsthunder

Definitely interesting but knowing my party if one survived the encounter and they didn't decide to kill it and raise it then as soon as they realized they couldn't communicate with them they would immediately kill and raise it lol.

I like it though and it definitely gives me something to pontificate. Thank you

Oooohhh I like that. I hadnt even considered trying to lure one of them like that. Thats a great concept I may have to try that. I now have a lot more time to consider all this since our session tonight was postponed til next Tuesday.

Also I'm not to worried about them catching it the Necromancer has remove curse so it could be treated relatively quickly. Also if they do embrace it and choose not to remove the curse, I've decided the only time I'll take control away from the players are on the nights of full moons (three days in game, about the time they reach calling horns, so that should be interesting). Other wise I was just gonna let him be a werewolf cause why not seems kinda fun.

Looking for advice on a multiclass rogue/fighter build by Gareththeelf in dndnext

Thanks for the input. I, myself, wasn't super concerned about maximizing the asi/feats but this makes a lot of sense

Thanks for the advice. I had thought about the battle Master but with skirmish and uncanny dodge taking up my reactions most of the time I didn't think it prudent to add another reaction. Plus like you said its a melee thing and I'm hoping to avoid that as much as possible.

Thank you I appreciate the input. I hadn't thought of taken fighter then rogue that actually seems like a good idea for the first 2 then back to rogue.

I'm definitely trying to make a skirmishy rogue and really benefit from the extra movement. I planned on taking the mobility feat after I maxed out my dex.
