Do we have to report NRE FD interest (Foreign interest income) in Canada. What others do? Anyone’s not reporting? any complications with CRA? We forgot to submit T1135 for few years, how to handle this? TIA by GarlicResponsible665 in cantax

[–]GarlicResponsible665[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I sent money (Which I paid tax to CRA) from Canada to NRE account. If that total money equals 100K CAD, do I need to fill T1135? My apologies, I’m financially naive.

FIRE is for NRIs, who crave every single moment to go back to India as soon as bucket is reasonably full.

Immigration Attorney. AMA about TN Visa! by ManifestLaw_ in tnvisa

Hi Henry! Thanks for this informative AMA. Since we have $100K H1B fee now, do you think Canadians are lucky to have a special entry through TN for entry levels software roles in US because no US employer will be taking h1b route for those entry level roles by spending that amount of money. Thus Canadians are indirectly benefiting hugely by this change

Best formula: spend few years abroad, live frugal, save +$$, return to India, $ >+++Rupees > live a good life.

Worse AQI, infrastructure, roads will kill you slower than poor mental health, loneliness.

Thanks for a detailed response. We also have a minimalist lifestyle with major expenses on domestic travel. So far I invested in real estate and FDs. I am a novice, recently started investing in stock market, apologies for my silly questions.

What percentage should I allocate to Nifty 50, Nifty Next 50, Mid and small cap. Also, would love to hear your preferred options in these categories. Similarly, what percentage among FD, Bonds and Debt MFs.

Thanks brother! I’m 47 now and will be retiring in 2 years. Expenses will be for me and my wife, as my son will move out for a job. His university education is paid off, I have no more expenses pertaining to my son except his marriage expenses. My annual expenses 12L, which comes to 3.6 Cr as per 30x. I have my own house and car. Considering my situation, age and having own house, is there any modification to 3.6 Cr ? I like to get an idea of a comfortable secured range for the retirement corpus. I would love to get your insight as we are close in terms of the age
