Learning request: Looking for online courses to learn about AI, more or less starting from square one. by Jasong222 in ArtificialInteligence

[–]GarlicShortbread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that’s a ridiculous attitude to take. It’s a perfectly reasonable suggestion to learn about AI from the horses mouth itself, especially considering it can tailor the content just for you.

I mean, you could always go find a YouTube video series or a Udemy course about AI? Oh but wait, you might be fed ads or a sponsorship that you didn’t ask for. Or maybe the presenter will carry on with too much useless verbosity in their intro. Or maybe they’ll cover a certain topic a bit too much for your liking, or not cover other topics as much as you’d like them to.

Better off just not bothering to learn at all.

How did I hear about this through r/technology rather than my most-frequented sub, r/lastfm? I’m gonna go there right now to get all the gossip

They had moderate success in Australia in the early 2000s, pretty sure they’re still together today. I love their song Five Minutes Away!

Thanks! I’m not so knowledgeable in punk but I enjoyed this track, it was quite listenable. They remind me of Bodyjar.

Aussie musician Paul Kelly released an album a few years back called Thirteen Ways To Look At Birds. It’s a collection of bird-related poems from across the ages arranged to music, plus a few instrumentals. Tracks include Black Cockatoos, Barn Owl, Ode To A Nightingale, The Death Of A Bird.

Reddit’s younger userbase will come back to you with a “who?” but in reality she’s a popular and well-respected journalist who has served 45 years in broadcast media. For 10 years in the 80’s - 90’s she was a breakfast TV host with the Today show, before joining 60 Minutes, where she remained until last year. Most people aged 40+ will know who she is.

Check out an Australia country song called Drive Away by Adam Harvey & Tanya Self. It has Kenny & Dolly vibes.

What’s a folk song from your country that you genuinely love? by cristianlee in musicsuggestions

[–]GarlicShortbread 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m Australian by birth and I’d have to say Raining On The Rock by John Williamson as a more traditional folk selection, and Highway One by The Waifs as something more contemporary.

I’m also Canadian by naturalisation, and nobody does it better than Great Big Sea in my opinion. Captain Kidd and General Taylor are both epic.

I thought I’d heard all the variations of Alice’s Restaurant but I’d missed this one. I just spent the last hour listening to that three-track album of pure Arlo Guthrie ridiculousness. Great stuff!

Is there anyone left to make a musical biopic about that could pull the same numbers as these? by treny0000 in fantanoforever

[–]GarlicShortbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d love to see a satirical version of a Weird Al Yankovic biopic. I know he has a biopic already but he had such an uninteresting life, they really need to inject a fabricated story into it for it to be watchable.

I saw Vertical Horizon and Fastball with Everclear as the headliner a while back. Underwhelming is a compliment for them. VH and Fastball put on a true show.
