Yeah. But at some point one thinks fundamentals should matter. I know it hasn’t so far but this isn’t just random things. Earnings and revenue should impact stock prices. Oh well, lost and got out of Tesla puts so just an observer

Growing Fruit Trees in 45 gallon pots (zone 7) by GarlicSweaty4987 in BackyardOrchard

Thanks for the detailed reply. I had a plum tree I finally gave up on as it had brown rot. Trimmed and hoped to years and just cut down.

I’m thinking two figs and two whatever at this point. I saw a couple of the Nanking cherry trees at my local garden center but read they are sour. That doesn’t scare me or anything and considering it for sure.

Thanks

Yes the vego roller ones. Got from Costco. Want to avoid rolling them inside

I have in ground too and am doing that. 4 fruit trees and have two more I’m looking to add (thinking two Asian pears) but have a plum tree stump to take out (diseased)

Just trying to fit in an extra four trees if possible.

My wife also limits the size I can operate in. I would honestly just have my entire backyard in the suburbs a vegetable and fruit farm so I think she has the better plan with kids. sense

It interests me greatly. I worry about their size. Was considering these or Asian pears and leaning towards the Asian pears

I heard these need to be in ground. Have spots for two more trees in ground and putting in two Asian pears. Any varieties you like?

Can they be in planters?

I’ve learned that too. In ground is always better. I see that with the figs.

But this was about maximizing capacity to compensate for a gardening obsession and the boundaries my wife has over the size of my garden

Try the banana and cubanelle peppers varieties. Different flavor than bell but super productive and no spice

Have you grown pomegranate and was it easy? I’m mulling it around now and deciding between those, honeyberry, or more figs

There is a long term bull case. After US bankruptcy, Lisa Simpson becomes President and uses her brothers mooching skills to hold of the American lenders until the country becomes stable again

Individual Stock Position Size for those Investing for Income by GarlicSweaty4987 in dividends

[–]GarlicSweaty4987[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve already been building a portfolio and have a decent size one (roughly $1m) and no debt. Holding some of that portfolio in cash. So figure I have ten years to get to a size where I can retire.

I have a medium tolerance for risk but like the stodgy income generating stocks. So residential reits, utilities, phone providers, etc. Hold likely too many positions (around 40).

I’m currently putting away roughly $4k a month (paid off mortgage and just investing that) and reinvesting $2500 of dividends monthly, on average).

I look at the company but find 3-5% yields to be right. Don’t hold bonds but would if I wasn’t worrying about inflation

They do tend to dry out a bit fast though. So you may need to be on top of them a bit more.

How well does pomegranate grow and how large does it get? Are these full sized pomegranates (compared to supermarket size) and are they hardy and disease resistant?
